COMPLETED MODS - post comments in main mod forum

Right, it's come to my attention that a lot of people still don' realise what has been made available so far.

This is mainly because people forget to set the forums to show posts back to the beginning.

Soo..... for the benefit of those people, and the rest of us who might have overlooked things, here is a thread to showcase completed mods, be they total conversions, menu mods or geometry/partial skin mods. Basically anything that doesn't need further tweaking.


RULES

1. Only post complete mods here

2. ***DO NOT*** post your replies about the mods here. Use the original thread about that specific mod.

3. Do not simply copy from your original threads.

4. Make a new, concise post with....

i. Images where appropriate
ii. Description of what it does
iii. Installation instructions
iv. A link to the origianl thread (so that people can make comments)

NEW NOTES AND KEY GEOMETRY

I made 2 sets of notes and keys. You can mix and match these, hopefully without problem.


Set 1:

DOWNLOAD HERE (right click, save as)


Set 2:

DOWNLOAD HERE (right click, save as)

I find that the best combination is the keys from Set 1 and the notes from Set 2.



Installation:

1. Open the Frets on Fire Mods folder - typically C:\Program Files\Frets on Fire\data\mods

2. Create a new folder in here (call it whatever you like, the name used is what will appear in game)

3. Place your selected note.dae and key.dae files into this folder

4. Run FoF -> Settings -> Game Settings -> Mod Settings

5. Turn on the new mod and apply settings.

Noob Edition Complete Mod

Complete mod made out of boredom and too much spare time. Modified a lot of stuff. Nothing Fancy.



Features
*Black background with red and white text.
*Most unnecessary graphics removed.
*Cassettes replaced with low-poly rectangles to help reduce menu lag.
*Notes and keys modified to be more Guitar Hero-esque.
*Font changed.
*Screw-Up sounds removed. (turning it on silent in options didn't seem to work for me)

Installation
1. Extract the NoobEdition.rar file to /data/mods in your Frets on Fire installation directory.

2. Turn mod on via FoF -> Settings -> Game Settings -> Mod Settings > NoobEdition 'on'

RF-mod 1.0

Features:
Song Folders in play menu and editor menus
Song Timer during song play
More information in song results
Toggle for alternate key settings in game settings menu (you can swap easily between keyboard and GH controls)
Toggle for disabling animated flames in video menu (can reduce CPU usage)
Toggle for disabling preview songs in audio menu (reduces cpu/memory in song selection)
Memory cleanup (less memory leaks)

In order to install this mod you will need to

1) Be running Frets on Fire 1.1.324 on Windows (no linux version yet)
2) Back up the 'library.zip' file you find in the 'data' subdirectory
3) Replace the 'library.zip' file with the one included here.
4) Copy the 'folder.dae' file into the 'data' subdirectory

I modded the Noob Edition and I'm using the RF mod

Features:
-Put keys back to their original form
-Have the white dot notes
-Put screw up sounds back in (noob edition took them out)
-Modded a fret board design I found on this site
-Made cassette tapes their original shape (noob edition editted them)
-Moved multiplier off to the right


Ignore the red-ish tint in this screen shot, I hit the print screen button right as I was getting the multiplier, so that's just the glow from the multiplier

Installation
1. Extract the Austin's Edit.rar file to /data/mods in your Frets on Fire installation directory.
2. Turn mod on via FoF -> Settings -> Game Settings -> Mod Settings > Austin's Edit 'on'

Note: The notes, keys and additional stats in the screenshots are from RF-mod, my mod only changes the graphics. The fifth note was changed orange by adding the line "fret5_color = #FF9933" to the fretsonfire.ini.

Installation:
With the version 1.1.324 or later:
Extract Darkish.rar to \FretsOnFire\data\mods, launch the game and toggle Darkish on at the game options.

With older versions:
1. Copy the contents of the folder "Darkish" in the Darkish.rar to \FretsOnFire\data.
2. Open fretsonfire.ini (located at C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\fretsonfire or your FOF installation folder, depending on the version you're running). Find the following lines and change them to be as shown:
base_color = #b6b0a2ff
selected_color = #E8E2D3
background_color = #241f18

NEW NOTES, KEY, FOLDER GEOMETRY

These pieces of geometry have been made available so far as part of other mods such as RF-mod 1.5 and the keys and notes rely on the colour code within that mod.

All the pieces were made using 3dsmax9.

First of all id just like to say this is my first attempt at a mod so be gentle on me ! :D

I used the RFmod 1.5 & Austins mod as a base then changed most of the graphix, fonts and feel to create this.

Ive found while it still looks ok, i get fairly decent performance out of it ( i had loads of stutter with the original game graphix ).

As you can see i have changed quite a few of the graphix.

The logo has a nice transparency effect on it. The pose guy was custom made, i set up a 3d character holding a guitar rendered it, then converted the image into something i could use in Inkscape.


POSSIBLE WARNING!!
As i said i used the RFmod1.5 including the keys and notes i dont know if the keys & notes will work without the RFmod?? ??? if you find out please tell me ! :)

To Install...
Simply extracte the "ultimate.rar" to your fretsonfire/data/mods folder
Load the game, go to game settings/mod settings/ and select ULTIMATE mod.
Thats it! :p

Dragon Theme Mod

I tried out the program 'Inkscape' today and i decided to edit the .svg files, and i came up with this:

I thought that i would upload it incase someone else wants it :D .

I changed some of the graphics such as:

I also added new fonts,

To Install -
Extract 'DragonTheme.rar' into your fretsonfire/data/mods folder, and then open the game and run it from game settings/mod settings

NOTE: THIS MOD IS FOR FRETS ON FIRE VERSION 1.1.324 ONLY!

Halo Mod completed.
This is my first mod, and I probably could've done it better, but I go back to college in a day and I wanted it off my back. I might try another later, and higher quality, but don't expect it soon.
I know the majority of mods use black as a background, and someone told me directly that they didn't like lighter colors. Thus, I included two theme.ini files; the default one uses a really light blue background, and the one called "theme3" uses black. if you like black, delete "theme" and rename "theme3" to just "theme".
