I will be making a full graphics overhaul for Frets on Fire, but for now I figured i'd release alternative notes and keys for those that want them. I literally spent a couple of minutes making them so excuse any shoddyness. I never planned on making models that were similar to Guitar Hero, these were just test pieces. They certainly make the game easier to play (I think anyway)

Anyway, enjoy, and keep an eye out for for updates regarding further changes that I make.

Not quite sure what you mean by the handle TusSK.

Anyway, the reason I came in here was to say that it would be great if people did some designs for keys, notes or replacements to the cassette tapes and if theyre half decent then ill make them.

Things to keep in mind are

a) atm texture cannot be applied and as the colours are applied by the engine.
b) complex objects probably wont work too well, and will certainly slow things down.

So come on people, get a pencil out and get sketching something for me to make

i have an idea for the song list
how about a juke box theme
with like 3 songs on the left with 3 on the right and then when you hit left or right he page flips and then 6 more songs?
get what im saying?

Realised after posting that last message that infact we can use some kind of shading. The engine actually defines 2 shades for the notes atleast, so therefore Ive made the notes Id done before have the shading more like how Id originally envisioned them, also, Ive made some new keys which you may or may not wish to use, either way, hope you like

Usual story, place note.dae and key.dae into your FoF data folder and backup your originals

Awesome work dude!!!

Keep it up man, you're doing a good job.

Possible ideas (I'm just throwing them out there) for the cassettes and what not:

- Jukebox (as previously mentioned)

- iPod

- Turntables (when a vinyl record is selected, it moves onto the turntable and the needle comes down to play it)

- CD covers (if possible, you could upload a jpeg for the album cover... perhaps include it in the specific song folder)

- Britney Spears (the song title appears on her forehead and when selected, her head either explodes or a guitar smashes her in the face)

- Wheel of Fortune (a wheel with the different songs. You could also have an option to choose 'random' and a random song would play)

lol, nice ideas but unfortunately with the engine as it is, all I can do is replace the cassette model, and it replicates for every song folder you have. I cant change the way the code works.

Now that I know that things can be done in 2 tones, then text could be done and made the darker shade. basically im after people doing sketches of stuff theyd like which only use 2 shades, light and dark

Hmm, something very strange has happened for me with that last set of notes I put up. The specular values have decided to reset over night (even thought I had the program open several times last night and they worked) and as such I now get this

Image

Ill sort this out and if anyone else has the same problem please let me know, cheers

The new notes with shading look a lot nicer than the ones without (although they too beat the original ones with ease). Thank you
