Find file "fretsonfire.ini". THIS IS WHERE IT IS:
C:/Documents and Settings/[YOUR NAME]/Application Data/fretsonfire/fretsonfire.ini
the ini file icon looks like a notepad file with orange gears on it
Double Click the file!
scroll down until you get to the part that says [theme]
it should have something like:
background_color=#------
base_color=#------
highlighted_color=#------
UNDERNEATH those 3 things, type the following:
fret5_color = #FF6600
now save the file, close the window, and play FoF.
IT SHOULD BE ORANGE NOW IF YOU DID IT RIGHT

Right, This is just for those "REAL Special people" that still dont get it, even after HeruLuingul, and every body else, has explained this 200 times.
**NOTE.. THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE THE RFMOD INSTALLED (IT IS NOW AT v2.01) find it in the COMPLETED MODS section of this forum.**
You will need to modify the file called " fretsonfire.ini " Which is created by starting FoF the quitting or by changing any setting in the Fof then pressing "APPLY NEW CHANGES", it is not a file that comes with the FoF download .
The .ini file is normally stored in ..C:/Documents and Settings/[Your Name]/Application Data/fretsonfire/fretsonfire.ini
(your Applications Data folder is "hidden" by default, you will have to change that setting in your "folder options")
Once you find the .ini file, open it and it should look something like this...
click me!!
In the section marked as [THEME] you need to add the line.. fret5_color = #FF6600 ( you can change the 6 digit colour code for any colour you wish. ) mine is set to a sort of Peach colour.
Once you have added that line just save the file and Start FoF, and your 5th fret should now be a different colour !!
Also if you wanted to you can add more fret colour lines to your .ini file to make the other frets different colours. just substitue the line " fret5_color = #ff6600 " for
fret1_color = #FF6600
fret2_color = #FF6600
fret3_color = #FF6600 Use any colour code you want .
fret4_color = #FF6600
fret5_color = #FF6600
to change the respective fret colour.
And just to clear this up. If you think you dont have an .ini file , just start the game change any setting you want, apply the settings, quit the game, then restart it, if the changes you made are still how you just left them, then YES! you do have an .ini file ( thats how it remembers what you changed).
If you still cant find it, do a search on your computer for " fretsonfire.ini" and tell it to search on all drives and folders. if you still cant find it then you are in fact, a freak!
NOW! can we please finally, put this question to bed.
