Actually all of them are quite doable from a coding perspective, but playing that way might be difficult.

I was going to experiment with a 3 players on bottom and one horizontal across the top, a la RB. But your other pictures are intriguing. I think the one where its in the 4 corners is especially neat.

Probably not going to happen any time soon. I think with 2 player FoF has enough time trying to keep up without lagging too much. But kudos to you for thinking of something different, and actually making some pictures to go along with it.

I'm not sure how easy it'd be to read an upside down chart like that...

And Alex, would you ever consider releasing a beta of 3-4 player FoF, specifying it's only for those of us with great computers?

Think about how compressed that would get! It'd be stretched and really teeny.

I'd rather have it stretched than -upside down-

Better idea. This would make the "background" obsolete, but it's really the only good way to do it as far as I can tell.

Just do classic 4 square split screen. Plain and simple.

I doubt it'd be all that bad. Arrows scroll up in DDR.

It does seem weird to flip your thinking like that, but I bet it's just a matter of what you are used to.

(Or you could just make the upper ones scroll down. That'd work fine too. Think the first picture with the upper half flipped about the horizontal axis.)

It'd take a long time to get used to though, since when you're not playing multiplayer you'd have to play upside up.

Not sure how deep it is in the code, but what if you flattened out the fretboard? like instead of it tapering off into the distance, it comes straight down the screen. Then putting more players on screen wouldn't be as bad, because your space wouldn't be as crammed.

I liked the idea of 3/4-man "Last Man Rocking".

I actually like the whole idea BEHIND this thread.

With the last man rocking idea, maybe you lose "health" with each mistake, and the "damage" increases the more notes you miss in a row, and maybe have the song loop untill all but one remains.

I still like this four-player screen idea.

Also, with last-man rocking, I was thinking more along the lines of your rock meter bottoms out and then you're eliminated, not have a health bar.

Maybe have an options screen with a lot of possibilities.
Here's some of my ideas for multiplayer.

Last-man Rocking:
--To Win:
----Be the last one rocking!
--You lose if:
----You miss ## amount of notes
----Your rock meter bottoms out
----Your accuracy falls below ##%
--When the song finishes:
----Loop the current song
----Seamless (or almost seamless) change to the next song (playlist support)
----End the song:
------You win if you have the highest score/accuracy

Best Rocker!
--To win:
----Have the highest score
----Have the highest accuracy
--When the song finishes:
----Seamless (or almost seamless) change to the next song (playlist support)
----End the song

Race:
--To win:
----Get ## score first
--When the song finishes:
----Loop the current song
----Seamless (or almost seamless) change to the next song (playlist support)
----End the song
------You win if you have the highest score

Any game type (if appropriate) can be set to have power-ups/items that can help you or mess up the other player. Also, team play (where possible...co-op versus anyone?) can be set.

These are all ideas I had come up with one night, when I was trying to fall asleep but couldn't. See if you can add more to the list or something.
PM me for my Wii or DS Friend Codes.

Since "DragonFail" "sucks" so much, I won't post anything related or about them any longer.
