How about a feature kinda like the "calibrate lag" thing in GH.
I know theres is an A/V delay setting, but if youre playing on a laptop or a low end machine, it really is a **** to go through: play song, quit to menu, change A/V delay, play song, quit to menu..... etc. to get the setting right...
I don't think this has ever been done in one of the mods out there, but it'd be nice to have as a kind of straight-out-of-the box feature... especially for those of us with laptops...

It would be good to be able to test the A/V delay from right there in the settings menu instead of having to go back and forth from Song to Setting to Song to Setting until you get it right.
I colored the orange fret in my RockBand Theme MAGENTA.

Now,
I do believe that a whammy bar IS possible.
I don't think it would be all that difficult either. Audacity has an "Effect" that can change the pitch (Effect > Change pitch). Now all you would have to change the pitch, up a step or half step and save it as something like whammy.ogg.
I'm not a programmer, but if you can get Frets on Fire to drop guitar.ogg when a player messes, then I'm sure you could cause it to stop playing guitar.ogg and play whammy.ogg when the player hits the whammy button.
Some issues that I can think of:
- makes the files 3X as large (song.ogg, guitar.ogg, AND whammy.ogg)
- have to simultaneously play three sound files (CPU demanding?)
Other then the above issues, i don't really see why it "not possible" to have a whammy effect.
Just a thought. (Maybe i should learn some programming languages other then fortran so i can play with this)

hahaha:
sorry there Skor, looks like we have similar... coincidental thoughts. didnt mean to "steal" your idea, but i've only been registered on the forum 3 days (Registration Date: Feb. 07 2008,19:46), so you have to forgive me for not seeing your post earlier. sorry bout that.
Please, everyone note: Skor thought of this first and is the only one who is allowed to have this original thought. Good thing you can't patent threads, I'd be in the gutters right now :;):
Coincidentally,

P.S.-
REASONABALLY, Someone could explain to Skor and I why this is not possible, if it is indeed so.

And, o hai. Welcome to fof-ff, read the rules and learn how to use the search button. :p
Alright,
To bring this to a rest:
Skor, I apologize. Please believe me, it was pure innocence. (man, right down to the whammy.ogg :\). My excuse for not searching is: In my excitement in thinking that I had dawned on a good solution, i posted my idea quickly without checking the other threads to see if anyone had solved it. I kept seeing people saying that it was "impossible" without even offering reasons why, so I thought should share. Next time I will be sure to search.
Best,
-casper911ca
P.S. - now searching the threads for reasons why this wont work. If I dont find anything, expect me to come running back demanding such an explanation.
P.S.S - PLEASE flame me if you need to, your pride is more important to humanity then being civil, understanding, and being open to discussion.
