So, heres the idea:
I write a program, that talks with a remote server, requests what songs/mods/updates are available, then allows the user to choose which to download, then the software downloads, installs, all automatic.
I know installing mods and the like isn't too hard, but a central database might be nice.
Now, I can do all the coding, the main problem is storing both the database, and the files. Im looking for people to host the database, and any files. Im not expecting one server for anything, but Id like somewhere with some decent bandwidth. Id rather not use BitTorrent, or Megaupload/any other free download.
So, what do you guys think?
Update and Song system.

That got me into thinking that something like a "SongServer" would be kickass:
* Your game would function the same way in the sense that you have your own library of songs.
* In the options, you have a "song server" setting and these server addresses could be shared here.
* The game would connect to a song server where you can browse large collections of songs. You see a song you want, you choose download, it downloads into your song library automatically!
Other thoughts:
* Versioning system?
* "Already downloaded" filter.
* Would require lots of space and bandwidth.
* Integrate torrent ability? Then server(s) and some users could seed lots of small, individual torrents.
* Would be difficult to sync the servers (FXP?).
* Ability to download mods as well.
I know that's basically what you said. I just started thinking aloud. Sounds like a great idea!

Ive not even wrote the code yet, I was just suggesting it before I actually put any code down.
Also, in response to HeruLuingul :
Yes, it will sort by artist. It will probably need RFmod installed, for them to actually serve a purpose.
* Versioning system? Yeah, definitely. It will check for updates on mods, songs, actual program itself etc.
* "Already downloaded" filter. Yes, along with other filters, such as By Artist
* Would require lots of space and bandwidth.Hence why I asked about it.
* Integrate torrent ability? Then server(s) and some users could seed lots of small, individual torrents. POssible, would have to read the BitTorrent API documentation
* Would be difficult to sync the servers (FXP?).Not really. THe songs wouldn't be mirrored, each server would have different stuff
* Ability to download mods as well.Yup

The songs will come with appropriate labels. Its all well though out. Ill get an alpha coded in the next few days.
The main problem is Ive never used MySQL with C# before, so I can either figure it out, or find somewhere that can run a MSSQL server.
Ill probably run the alpha off my xbox for a bit (got linux installed) so the torrent thing won't be need yet.
