OK, so i have been using the freetar editor for a few weeks now and I am getting the hang of it. However, I have a few questions to ask about the editor, and FoF itself.

1. How can you change the BPM during the middle of the song. A few examples are: Freebird, Hangar18, Fall of Panguea and some other GH songs. I can't seem to change BPM during the middle of a song with the editor, only one for the entire song. I have also tried to modify some things in the 'notes' file using a (very) cheap midi editor but nothing works :( . Is it possible to do this in a Freetar editor or do I have to use a specific midi editor to adjust the notes??

2. Can you prevent notes from automatically turning into hammer-ons or pull-offs? I have seen this song 'Wolf & Raven' by Sonata arctica which has a lot of notes close and next to each other yet they remain normal.

3. I can't find a fretsonfire.ini to change that annoying purple key to an orange-colored key... I don't have the function 'run' standing in the starting menu and my search function can find nor the 'application data' folder nor the fretsonfire.ini itself. But it has to be SOMEWHERE, right? I am using windowsXP.

Sorry for sounding like a total n00b, I just want to know this so badly  . And I'm sure some other people around here have the same problems

1. I don't think you can. As far as I know, only the GH songs have that ability. Freetar Editor also does not possess this ability...

2. No, that is not possible, unless you are NOT using FOF v.1.2 or RF-Mod in FOF v.1.1, but in this case all HO/PO's are disabled, no choice... Probably the reason why those songs behaved like that, is because the notes, even though they are close in tempo, are not "followed", changing, for example, from red to purple, wich I understand doesn't register as a HO/PO both in FOF and GH...

3. Just edit the fretsonfire.ini under fret5_color and change it to something like #F87217 (adjust as needed!)...

OK, thanks for your reply crazy.neo,

But then, how did the songs I have in fretsonfire do the trick? Is there a midi-editor that can change BPM only for certain pieces of the song. In other words, that you open the notes.midi-file, manipulate its BPM and then save it again?

And about point 3: I want to know how to find the fretsonfire.ini on my computer as I don't have the function 'run' in my start-menu and the search-function cannot find it as well.

On point 3, see http://fretsonfire.wikidot.com/fretsonfire-ini for more information.

On a side note, I thank you for doing some research before your (first) posting. I award you three Internets.

Ok, accordingly to THIS:
https://www.fretsonfire.org/cgi-bin....;hl=bpm

The in-game FOF editor changes the note's speed individually... I didn't know this, nor can I confirm it, but i'm no songmaker (for now) :D .
Anyway, regarding point 3, if you haven't found it, just go to C:\Documents and Settings\<YOU>\Application Data\Fretsonfire

There, that should do it! :D

Nope, the Ingame editor can't change note's speed individually, I tried that.

And for the colored frets, I finally managed to open the .ini and adjusted the frets colors to what I want them to be but when I start FoF the colors are still the same, huh? :(

If you are using mods, disable them, as they may have individual configs... Also, delete the *.ini and it will create a new one, edit in that one...

Nope, sorry, that doesn't seems to work... Have no mods on, recreated the .ini and edited it, but fret nr. 5 is still purple.

I don't get it, in the .ini I clearly wrote the code for ORANGE but it doesn't changes even a tiny little bit. :(

Try changing to #FFFFFF
If no changes happen, FOF is reading a different *.ini.

It doesn't changes, but I don't think FoF is reading from a different .ini cuz if I change something else than the colors (I set fullscreen to false) that DOES work...

Hmmmm....

You may have a fretsonfire.ini in your game folder (meaning, same place as your fretsonfire.exe). If you have one there, try modifying it and see if it makes any difference.

fret5_color = #F87217

Copy paste this replacing the original (a extra space is enough not to work). Also, see if you are in the correct place... It should be under the [theme] section...

Isn't it supposed to be fret4_color? I think it goes from 0 to 4.

Nope, didn't work. I don't get it!

- I replaced the fret's color code and that didnt work
- When I changed fullscreen from true to false it DID work
- There are no mods on whatsoever
- I tried placing the .ini in the same folder as fretsonfire itself but that didn't change anything
- I even entirely removed the [theme] part but that didn't change ANYTHING (A new one is created automatically)

Do you have to do something with the .ini while saving it?

Could be! My version is personally modded, so it may have created blank ones... tru changing the fret 4
