This is because your keyboard manufacturer decided to skimp on quality to make a cheap product.
Not all keyboards can do certain key combinations.
There are two ways I know of to fix this (Without buying a Guitar for use with the game, or a high quality Keyboard)
The first way is to remap your keys to say 1-5 instead of F1-F5..... Usually works for people.
The second is to search for whichever mod allows use of 2 note chords, this mod makes it so you only have to hold the first and last note in the chord, and it tells the game you are holding them all.
Like if you needed Y-B-O you can just hold Yellow and Orange, and it tells the game you have Blue held down as well...
Hope this helps.

Q: Why can I only use certain key combinations? e.g. Why won't F3 + F4 + Strum (Enter) work together?
A: Keyboards always have certain key combinations that cannot be pressed together. This saves on manufacturing costs as it is very rare that those combos would need to be used (aside from in FoF obviously).
Only way around this is to remap your keys. Usually using 1-5 rather than the F keys works. That, or try switching which key is used to strum.
Rule #6: No asking questions that are on the boards FAQ!
Violation of this rule results in a raise in warning level.
