FIRST OFF: No Anti-Windows/Pro-Mac/Pro-Linux talk. PUHLEASE.

Main point: So my PC keeps bugging me to get Windows XP SP3... But with the whole SP2 farce (I had to do a reformat to get it working properly), I'm a little on the fence.

Anyone able to vouch for or against SP3?

I think SP2 was BIG though.
As far as I know it's fine, fixes some security issues.
And if it's anything like Vista SP1 it should be fine.

don't bother it adds nothing major to xp it gives some of the minor features that are present in vista security-wise but makes no real diffrence save the memory of your pc for something more worth while

Don't do this. The idea that SP3 will break more things than fix them is absurd.

The ideia that replacing vital system components is risk-free is stupid. Then again, it's you.

SP3 Never crashed my computer when I installed it. I actually noticed an INCREASE in performance since SP3 changes the way the system works. (Boot time is shorter, programs open faster, ect, ect.) I say get it!

I installed it with no problems at all. My system runs great now. I didn't notice major performance improvement so I don't know, some ppl say it's faster than Vista (without SP1)

Wikipedia:
(SP3) began being automatically pushed out to Automatic Update users on July 10, 2008. A feature set overview which details new features available separately as standalone updates to Windows XP, as well as backported features from Windows Vista has been posted by Microsoft. A total of 1,174 fixes have been included in SP3. Service Pack 3 can be installed on systems with Internet Explorer versions 6 or 7, and Windows Media Player versions 9 and above. Internet Explorer 7 is not included as part of SP3.

Also, NOT getting an update because "everything seems fine already" is a foolish practice. That's another reason why we have wonderful things like botnets.
