OK, before I announce what happened I am going to explain some minor and major things about the competition.

The competition itself was set up OK, but there were four things I didn't like at all. The first and most irritating thing was the guitars. One was a wireless TAC, and I felt sorry for anyone using it. It had no tilt sensor, and the strum bar was really flimsy. I felt like I was going to break it. I got to use the actual GH3 guitar, but this one was horrible! No working whammy, sticky buttons, no tilt...

Second, we only had 8 songs until the last half, when someone took 15 minutes (no joke) to enter the Unlock All cheat. It got really boring until we got some new songs.

Third, screen lag. They had the whole thing rigged to a projector, and there was a major lag with the sound. You couldn't play by ear, so if you wanted to win, you had to focus on the notes only.

Fourth, the rounds were set up very weird. The rosters got changed at the last moment, which made for some weird pairs. Also, the first half was Pro-Face Off, then the second half was Battle Mode, which was dumb because of the condition of the guitars.

---------------------------------------------

Now, ONTO THE ROUNDS! I'm only listing rounds I played in.

Round 1 - Me vs. Ken - Barracuda

I didn't know this kid, but he was OK. We played Barracuda, and we were neck and neck. Around the end, I had full star power, and he tried to be cool and play it without looking. He was hitting notes, but I wailed out a full star power on him at the last moment and sealed the deal. When he turned around and saw he was losing, he just quit. :)

Last Half----------------------------------------------

Round 1 - Me vs. Scott - Cliffs of Dover

I lost in the intro. I can FC this song, but the TAC controller wouldn't register my buttons! To make it worse, Scott pulled out a Lefty Flip during scales, and i couldn't keep up.

Rematch - Me vs. Scott

This time I had the GH3 guitar, and we played Cliffs again. I busted out a Whammy on him during the part where you hold the Orange and tap the other ones, and he went into high red. He used a Double on me during the main verse, and I got out of it, but he used that damn Lefty Flip again and I can't do lefty! He sealed his victory again!

Ranks:
1st - Scott (my friend btw)
2nd - Matt (my other friend)
3rd - Me

All in all, I didn't do so bad, but I would have won if they had better guitars. :)

That's crazy bad organization. Bad guitars, no sync, changing the competition in the middle...just. wow.
Why am I on this website? I'm clearly over the age limit of 14.

I bet it'll be set up better when this becomes an Olympic sport =)

I thought you still had to press the orange for every note that comes out...

errr? that doesn't work, dude.
the button closest to the strum bar will be played.
so when you hold orange and tap the other buttons, you will play orange -> fail

edit: I just even tried it in practice mode just to be sure

Really? It works in frets... oh well.

How does anyone do that then?

EDIT: I see. You have to tap. That's a little gay...

You mean, that, in frets on fire, you can hit R,Y,B,O/P even if you are holding the green key? Just like holding the green key in TTFAF intro?

Oh btw. congratulations on comming in third

No I mean when I play Cliffs and I get to the part like this:

All I have to do in frets is hold the Orange down, and tap the other ones.
