I know this more of guitar loving society but oh well.
I nominate Joey Jordison (Slipknot) & Jordan Mancino (As I Lay Dying)

Jon Bonham from Led Zepplin was pretty good... but he's got the old style.

Nowadays we have Peart,
Joey Jordison of SlipKnoT,
we've got "The Reverend Tholomew Plague " from Avenged Sevenfold,
and Dave Mackintosh from DragonForce

it all depends on your preferece of music really.

Vinnie Paul Abbott! If you disagree, go listen to Pantera's Primal Concrete Sledge. If you still disagree, go beat yourself over the head with your drumsticks :D

Jordison...holy crap?!? You call him a great drummer...huh... the only thing he can do is play fast and can't even switch tempo! :D But like him...I don't care!

My top10:

1. Neil Peart (Rush)
2. John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
3. Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)
4. Ian Paice (Deep Purple)
5. Bill Ward (Black Sabbath)
6. Dave Lombardo (Slayer)
7. Danny Carey (Tool)
8. Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden)
9. Vinnie Paul Abbott (Pantera)
10. Lars Ulrich (Metallica)

I second puppetz_86's list. Spot on. =)

I really dig Carter Beauford from Dave Matthews Band too. Great, unique style.

Also, Animal!

Neil Peart is the Best Drummer Ever in my opinion.

Puppetz_86, tell me why Lars Urlich is a good drummer. Almost all of Metallica's songs use only one drumbeat that's SO simple it's pathetic. I have a friend who is a drummer and he's always complaining about playing Metallica songs because they are so boring to him.

I would replace Lars Urlich with Animal.

Otherwise, your list is spot on.

Animusic p0wns.

But Peart is real :D

He's one of the only drummers I know that can go from playing 5 beatspermeasure to 6.
That takes some serious brain power of you ask me
(look up Losing It by Rush... the whole electric violin solo is in 6, the rest is 5)

But yeah he's got his solo's like Der Trommler and stuff
http://vidsearch.myspace.com/index.c....4466203

I like just his plain awesome beats in songs like in

I have, honestly, yet to hear any drums that sound better than that. I want to know who writes the music for the Animusic series as it's some of the best I've ever heard.
