Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.021)
- On the first try of the new Tutorials, I got a frozen black screen right after selecting "Tutorials". The log didn't say anything and after I crashed/relaunched the program, it was working correctly. The only difference in FoF between the black screen and the normal behavior is that "Tut=False" had been set to "Tut=True".
- Since you've now included "Bang Bang" in the tutorials, maybe should you also also disable failing for this one too (like for the 2 other tutorials).
- fretsonfire.ini, if not present in the folder of FoF, will be created in %USERPROFILE%/APPDATA%/fretsonfire.
IMO, and following fretsonfire.log's new behavior, it should be created inside the main folder too. - When switching from a theme to another, the first (alphabetically) animated stage is selected by default, regardless if "Animated Stage" was set to "Normal".
IMO it should keep its setting from theme to theme (at least, pertaining to the "Normal" setting). - RB1patch3_020.rar includes stuff that weren't present in "MFH Mod Patch v3.020 - FoFiX"; it could confuse users who had downloaded the latter (i.e. it could make them believe they don't need RB1patch3_020).
IMO you should stick to your past method : the latest update includes everything since v3.000.
- Also, I have to confess I've been confused with all these new downloads. IMO you should release a new big pack that'd include "Frets on Fire MFH Mod v3.000 Full Release" + all the updates (including the new translations) + the new tutorials.
BTW, since now crowdcheers.ogg has been put into data/sounds, it is not needed anymore in RB1 and Megalight themes.
Of course, those are only suggestions.
//edit : translations updated to v3.021. Same link as before.
//edit2 :

if my animated bg makes my game laggy, i will need to turn it off, like that static image we all played with one day.
how can i do this?
Even simpler answer!
Set "Animated Stages" to "Normal" and "Rotate Stages" to "No".

Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.021)
Hi.. I dunno if this is allowed to go here or not. Sorry if it's not.
But I was wondering what we're gonna do once GH:WT comes out, and we get the songs from it. Because some coding would need to be changed or something, since it has overlapping notes:
--O========
--------O=====
-----------O===
------------------
------------------
Like dat<.<
Just wondering if it's already possible, of if anyone plans on trying to make them work? Sorry, I just really look forward to being able to play GH:WT songs..

I've numbered your list so I can respond to them individually...
1) This is another "random hang" - this is nothing new. If it's not repeatable, it's really not trackable...
2) Yes, all tutorial songs should have failing disabled, this was not intended. On the To Do list. http://code.google.com/p/fofix/issues/detail?id=97
3) You are not thinking of all situations. This is working as intended, and believe me some players are using this feature to keep separate settings with separate Windows accounts and a single copy of FoF
4) This is also working as intended. When using a theme that only has "Normal" - how is the game supposed to know what animated stage you last had selected in every other theme that you could possibly select next?
5) True, but they were not meant to be equivalent.
6) Again, I'll just post what I wrote in the Rock Band 1 thread to answer this:
I made a separate thread for this theme since I ended up being the one who's maintaining it (as it is my favorite theme and I change it as I modify FoFiX) - but FoFiX is now on a big public code sharing site and I can't have any copyrighted material in it. So I had to separate the Rock Band 1 changes from the FoFiX patches. 3.021 and later will NOT include changed Rock Band 1 theme files. I will only post a new Rock Band 1 patch when I make changes, and its version number will match the FoFiX version it is intended for use with.
7) Do you have any idea how much work that is for me, and how much that slows me down? That's not happening very often - the new method is something everyone will have to get used to. It is for many good reasons.
8) Older crowdcheers.ogg files are floating around in older Rock Band 1 themes, and have to be overwritten or else the looping crowd cheer would play a crowd cheer mixed with a guitar sound. I can remove crowdcheers.ogg from the MegaLight theme, however, without a similar issue.
whew... that took longer than I thought it would.
txf, if you'd try fretting a song with overlapping sustains, it should already work. The big problem with GH:WT is the additional fret.

Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.021)
4) What I suggested was that the "Animated Stage" setting could be remembered only if set to "Normal".
Of course, wanting FoF to also keep track of the last selected animated stage for every theme would be quite silly (added to the fact that could cause more troubles than it's worth, and would unnecessarily increase the size of fretsonfire.ini).
5), 6), and 7) I wasn't aware you had decided to separate the RB1 theme thread/downloads from FoFiX.
In that case, it's a win-win situation : the users just have to download the latest version of FoFiX and the themes/tutorials separately. And it's easier to maintain and provide updates on your side (not talking about the fact that you/we don't have to upload/download big-ass packs anymore).
Last (but not least), I do realize the amount of work you regularly spend on FoFiX and am thankful for that.
Besides our eternal gratefulness, what can we, mere users, do to help you?
//edit : I just noticed that most of the credits strings are no more translatable. Is that normal?
//edit2 : found why. Since the "CREDITS" file is used as source for the credits (starting from v3.020), they're read from this file and aren't translatable anymore. Only the remaining strings from Credits.py are.
If I could make a suggestion, that'd be to keep the credits "hardcoded" into Credits.py, like before (for various reasons, one being that it's more difficult for someone to rip off the credits and start selling FoFiX on eBay).
The Credits still disappear too early, BTW.

Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.021)
hey man! found an bug(3.0.021)!
i activated jurgen to see how well he played jordan. the easy notes he couldnt hit, but the solos he made a 100%, but thats not the bug.
i was playing and,the all counters froze! i mean, notes, score and hit streak. the most odd was:
one fret become frozen at the "i am holding a note" animation
all the notes kept coming, and both guitar and song.ogg kept playing, like everything were normal.
also, if you try press esc, it wont work, i had to close the program.
please fix this!

Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.021)
I have suggestion/idea.
I have keep all song in folders, where every folder is the equivalent of game from which the songs come from (gh1, rb, rb2, gh3 dlc ...).
This is useful in management songs (new dlc for rb or gh, sorted in tiers - according to level of difficulty), finding these what have drum part (rb) or bass; (...)
But now I have more often readiness now to play in some special song and juggling/jumping between all tiers/folders/pack is not funny for me.
I want sort all songs by artist.
And here is problem. I don't want creating new folders with songs sorted by artist collection (using song manager - i don't have next 15 gb for songs..) and I don't want deleting folder with songs sorted by games.
And here is my idea, if it will be possible if game will be accepting in song library, not only folders but also shortcuts to folders.
It would make easier creating list of favourite songs, playlist and another list of songs, without using additional space on hard disk.
Also if somebody don't have enough space on partitions and have songs strewed on different partitions, this would make possible him possession all songs in game in the same moment.
