This is my custom guitar. I made it using a 9 dollar toy guitar from walmart and a street fighter controller(because its digital only...no analog)

Yeah it did involve a lot of soldering. But its pretty straight forward. Solder 2 wires from the guitar butttons to each button on the controller.

It was actually my first time soldering anything. So it took us about 2 nights to make it.

We plan on making a wireless version next.

Actually, soldering is pretty easy, just find a decent guide online or something and go. Most soldering guns come with some sort of basic instruction as well.

Its basically soldering button to wire. in digital pads the buts are simply two pieces of conductive materal side by side where when a button is pressed the current is connected. I chose a guitar that already had buttons in it so that i simply soldered two wires from each button on the controller to the buttons in the guitar. It can be done a little more effeciently than that because buttons share some wires....but in essence thats all. me and my friend plan on making another later. Since there is a demand we will problem document the whole process and make a tutorial or somthing.

i ahve this old toy guitar, and a old USB joystick, or xbox controller

i took apart the guitar, and the buttons are a board, that looks like the xbox controller d pad and a,b,x,y,black, white buttons

how do i solder/connect wires to this type of thing?
I have almost completed my own custom guitar
I have worked for literally 12 hours straight (7 P.M.--7 A.M.)
Finished all but one fret button i dont use anyway... Ask for pictures

is the pad Digital? or analog. If its digital i can help...... but anlog is another beast.

take pictures of the inside of the usb controller and the board inside your guitar.....send them to [email protected]'ll see what advice i could give from there.

as far as an xbox controller goes...most xbox controllers are analog......i used the street fighter controller because its buttons are all digital.

I'm currently making a franken-tar of my own

...dunno if it'll work though, since i'm going to have to do some REALLY precise soldering (I'm going to make the controller from an old keyboard see). I just looked inside the keyboard just a couple days earlier and the contents really shocked me: all the wiring was done on three sheets of plastic!!!!!
I can take some pics of the inside of the keyboard if you're interested.
