FOF Contest Server - this is cool...

FOFItalia proudly presents...

our FOF Contest Server, now released to the public!

You may wonder what a contest server is . Well, we use it for contests within our community. Just choose few songs to be played, select which players can upload scores and let them play. As the contest goes on, the charts are updated and each player receives a score depending on his placement in each song. But a web page is worth a thousand words, so just check our contest website, where you can see the results of the last contest:

In order to run the contest server, you just need a web server supporting php & mysql. The package also contains some python scripts (win32-compiled version available too) for score handling (showScores, uploadScores, mergeScores).

- minor bugfixes
- correctly handle ex-aequos in song scores (the same points are assigned to
players with the same song score), and display ex-aequos in the scores page
- difficulty selection when adding new players (can play only at the chosen difficulty)
- contest can be enabled/disabled from the admin panel
- scores now shown in 4 columns, like the charts (and only for players allowed
to play a given difficulty)
- scores/charts page caching (the pages are rebuilt only when really needed,
thus heavily reducing the amount of DB queries)
- logging subsystem
- scores can be cleared without resetting the whole database
- bells & whistles
