Well every one is entitled to there own opinion, i personally am sticking with mine, i think there is a difference between just passing on a song to another user, and selling it. Who do the police target, the kid downloading a few mp3's.. NO . they go for the guy down the market knocking out cd's by the hundred, making himself fat cash.
And it wasnt just about the illegality of song trading, it was also about the fact hes selling software, that should never be sold in the first place and the fact hes palming our ( the song makers) hard work off as part of the deal without asking anyones permission.

In my book thats just being ****!

Hi there i have a couple of questions regarding your Guitar hero for PC you had for sale.

1# why was you selling this with the description, its exactly the same as guitar hero for the PC, when it very clearly isnt, it is called "Frets on fire", and is only the same in the way that it is a guitar game. That is classed as misleading the public, under the Trades Description Act:1968

2# Why are you selling something that is protected under the GNU licence, it is a free game and should stay free! And after being in contact with the makers of the software , it is also known you did not ask there permission to sell it.

3# Why was you selling ILLEGALLY copied songs, IE the guitar hero songs which are protected by there respective record labels AND by HARMONIX/RED OCTANE.

4# Why did you not bother to get permission from any of the people (including myself) who made the custom songs in the 210 song pack included with this purchase.

Please C&D trading this item or i will seek legal action against you.

Lol typical, your only 14, if you dont get it, dont do it!
And yeah you can make copies of it, you can give a copy to any one you want, but its shareware, which means its free, and all ways should be.
The stupid thing was, the thing that caused the biggest uproar, besides the fact you was selling a free product, was the fact you was selling OUR songs that we made and you didnt ask a single person if it was ok.

BTW did you know the night the complaint was made to ebay, it was done by about 150 people in around 30 mins or so Lol we literally all hit ebay at the same time, quite an uprising dont ya think!(ok i may have exagerated that bit, but what the hay!)

Just as a side note...and this ISNT a threat in any way, its some advice. I know your only a kid so you probably didnt even consider it, but if we hadnt spotted your sale, your biggest problem would have been RED OCTANE/ HARMONIX the people that made guitar hero, if they had found out, they would have dragged your ass through every court in the land for trying to sell ripped off music from there game, then they would have found out about the game itself and where all the songs come from, then they would take legal action against the fan sites and that would be the end of Frets on fire, for the time being at least. thats not good for anybody 8-(

OK thats enough from me, be good, dont do drugs ( unless there cheap enough ) and dont sell other peoples stuff on ebay!!

for the record, it's not shareware, it's open source/freeware. shareware means that you get to try it for a certain amount of time then you have to buy it.

I very much doubt we will see anything else about this, If red octane/ harmonix got wind of the sale, yeah thay might look into frets on fire and see we have all the GH songs, but i beleive its been taken care of now. Somebody at the FOF HQ would have heard something from them by now. and i really dont think the custom songs are gonna be of concern to record labels, it would be like making a short film/animation and using an existing song at the backing track, there song is not the main point of that film, the film is, and id say its kinda the same with the custom songs here, the point isnt really to be sharing there song , its to give us a platform to build usable songs in a game.

as i said i really dont think anything else will be said/heard about this anymore.

@nobby - It's still illegal though. We are distrubuting their songs without their permission. It's no different than downloading music from torrents, limewire, or any other P2P service. Same thing with the movies. You have to have their permission to use their songs.

Anyway, I doubt they would take legal action against us. Companies really only get pissed off if you're making money off of their product without their consent like this guy is.

now im not gonna get into a grail argument with oyu, but in fact we are both wrong, there is about another 4 sylables after that and...lol it is ftang , they used that word a lot in the tv series, e.g "Mr ftang ftang ole biscuit barrel" but thats not important right now Lol.
