Screw .Rar! Screw Multiple download sites! - seriously people

My last computer died due to a virus. So my parents made a rule that i couldnt download anything wtf? I remember how winrar worked and how public it liked to make itself. So please people, just freaking zip the folder instead of .raring it (its faster, too).

Secondly, we need ONE and ONLY ONE official download server. Im tired of songs being expired or broken or spanish and i dont want to try to read screwed up letters. Surely we can ourselves open up our own file download area (or atleast stick with one of them thats easy to use and doesnt break often)
Please. Do it for the people whose copys of gh2 for xbox are broken. (thats me)

When installing WinRAR, you can choose options that'll make it less "public." If the song posters had to choose one format, I'm sure it would be .rar.

Or you could use something other than WinRAR, like 7-Zip.

im sticking with RAR it packs the files smaller, and i seem to get a lot less errors when i use rar over zip. Zip is somethng that comes built into windows.... and like most things that are built into windows, they are crap, where as there are nearly always alternatives that do the job better. as an example internet browsers, IE is shockingly bad and even my aunties pet goat could hack it. where as something like Firefox or the other ones out there are less hackable and generally do more ( functionallity).

Also there are several Download places that have hundreds ( if not thousands ) of songs and are very stable sites. i robots ftp sever is a good place, who was the other guy ( i think it was DRW) also has a site going. both are good places to get loads of songs from.

Something else i just thought of, why do WE need to change to zip and why do WE need to have only one download host?? id bet the majority of ther people here are happy with .rar files and the download places we have at the moment ( including all the hosting sites like rapidshare mediafire and MIHD) just because you are having problems , why should we all change to make it better for you. when most of us are fine the way we are.

I don't care about the hosting as long as it works, though I prefer independent servers and Mediafire.

As far as format, RAR always wins. If you don't like WinRAR, get 7-Zip.

I don't give a **** if you're 12 and your parents are computer illterate, no one is going to stop using .rar files. Also, try not to complain about free stuff, it makes you look like a whiny ****.

I'm wondering, if your parents won't let you download anything, whats it matter if the files are in .zip or .rar if you can't download them anyway?
(unless i read wrong?)

And secondly, the server we do have doesn't have free infinite bandwidth. It had to be paid for. But, too many people upload to places that delete files after a week, etc. But you can't really control where people will upload files anyway.

I post my files in .zip simply to avoid "how do u open .RAR?!111?!!!".

As for upload sites, as long as it isn't MegaUpload, I don't care.

I actually like winrar more than winzip once I learned to use it... I'm not sure why you hate it so much, cause I even clocked zipping and rarring time... their roughly the same... on my comp, anyhow.

For what we use them for here, the performance and compression differences are negligible, so it just comes down to a matter of taste. Use what you're comfortable with.

yea i "depublicized" rar must have been a newer version cause the old one just automatically installed

I can't find any good songs! All the downloads are expired!
meh... i wish fof had some money behind it. I like free stuff, but id like it if i could actually download some songs (not in a huge pack, not in spanish, just one song off of an english site that expires never)
