I'd like to see a practice mode Like the one in Dance Dance revolution. Where you can take one song and break it down to play only a certain area of that song. And you can practice it as many times as you want, At any speed you want.

well it wood be possible but you wood have to make like slowguitar .ogg and slower so foruth but you wood have to slow it down your self allso that voice's wood sounds really weird so it wood be possible maybe but they wood have to be covers that you made your self then remove the voice for that mode and youd probly have to retempo the frets as well

good idea but it as agent orange said dissected practice mode if there is even an option? Pick out the section of the song (solo, chorus, intro, etc...) and play that. Cut out the rest of the song and play just the part you are having problems with? Probably no way in H to do that though...... hes probley right

You could at least choose a starting time and it would jump there.
Then you could extend the song.ini format so that it included a specification of what the sections are. "Intro is 0:00-0:30", "solo is 1:47-2:15", something like that. (Actually you would probably want to specify in terms of measures rather than seconds.) If a song didn't provide that specification, you could fall back on just asking for a starting time and length.

Yeah, you could dissect it into parts like that for every song and then have them referenced in the practice mode. just pick parts of the song in the practice screen which will reference different smaller files of the original song. If you could cut and paste from the original file it would be easy but I have no idea how this stuff works right now.

Lol... It's funny reading an all-noob discussion.
Probably the easiest (and least resource consuming) way to do this would be to use the song.ini to set some kind of value such as:
,etc.
or something like that. Probably would be better to use just seconds, though. Or measures, since FoF uses midi files.
That way it'd come out with smaller numbers, and look more like (using measures):
,etc.

section_1 = 1000 - 80000(milliseconds)

I want this as much as the next guy, but the problem is the level of work required. It isn't just a simple mod like graphics where it replaces the default files, you would have to add code to do this. Not necessarily complex code, but you would have to be familiar with FoF's code structure and know Python, which disqualifies me. If you want something like this done, best to go to the guys that have done code mods: RF-mod, Capo mod, and Hering's mod. Overall though, should be a simpler code mod than those. Otherwise suggest it to the FoF people for the next version, but I bet they already have thought of it.
