I didnt see this anywhere on the forums so i thought i would save some people the trouble of finding it.
Thanks to buttons and khornerz on the ubuntu forums for being on top of things for us linux users.
Works great on Feisty. I cannot comment on any other distros.

I've had this compiled (and released) for some time now. The only thing about my binary is that it required python 2.5. just put your songs dir in the data dir.

Hey i tried your version of Rfmod and it is much more like the windows version as far as features except i get an error seemingly randomly after songs but before i see my score and frets exits.
/FretsOnFire/FretsOnFire.bin/View.py:172: DeprecationWarning: integer argument expected, got float
/FretsOnFire/FretsOnFire.bin/View.py:173: DeprecationWarning: integer argument expected, got float
Fatal Python error: (pygame parachute) Segmentation Fault
/Desktop/fretsonfire.sh: line 3: 6653 Aborted
i do have python 2.5 installed like you said and this is a clean except a symlinked songs folder to what was in the package. And deleted .fretsonfire folder just in case.
Any ideas?

not really. I know there are some other strange crashes that some other people have reported. I'm finally getting around to building my linux python fof development environment. I hope to release a linux binary of 4.13 that hopefully works for everyone.
I looked at this error on my now working linux setup. It's just a warning and View.py is not causing the crash. It's likely something else. The warning you are seeing was a result of the multiplayer mod. I'm fixing the warning in the next version but I'm still not sure what your crash is from.
I'll be playing with my linux version to see if I get any duplicate errors
