This could sound stupid but... i don't understand the physics behind a lower fret HOPO after chord actually making sound.

If you release a holded fret (in a chord), expecting it to sound as a Pull-Off (no way to expect a Hammer-On, right?), the fret actually making sound would be the first one, at the beggining of the neck (the note with the line totally free).

I'm asking because this could help me to look for bugs (if there are any).

The Hammer-On on a higher fret should sound though.

And a quick question to RB/GH owners:
Does the Hammer-On on a lower fret work? (besides being or not after a chord)

Note: Remember to ask for clarifications... English is not my native.

If so, what you provided in this bug report is absolutely perfect for me to be able to hunt this particular situation down. Thank you :)

yes master :)

I found another hopo issue in that song but I'm going home now so maybe I'll post screens later (12+ hours from now).

You can pull off a chord to a lower fret, but I've only seen it done in a couple official songs.

Fingers: After hf24 I'm not able to hold the higher fret anymore... I went trough most of them... I have 23 now, cuz it's working... 24+ doesn't! :(

Still trying to debug these issues. Thanks everyone for the detailed bug reports.

New hotfix that may help some people:

--27) Link -- Glorandwarf's countdown board speed timing fix #2 has been applied (all song countdowns will be the same now).
--- Also, an option has been added that enables / disables HOPOs after chords (so everyone that has issues with it can disable it while I debug it, which may take a while)

edit:

Whoever needed clarification on the uploading scores thing, and posted these lines from fretsonfire.ini, let me clarify:

The first line, "uploadurl" - was where the original address for non-starpower score chart uploads went.

Originally, before hotfix 24, you had to manually go into your fretsonfire.ini and change the "uploadurl" address to "http://fofchart.exofire.net/uploadsp.php".

Then, with hotfix 24, I attempted to add a new address for starpower uploads "uploadurl_sp" as the default. However, I used the "http://fofchart.exofire.net/index.php?sp=true" address by accident, which is for viewing scores... not uploading them.

So, with hotfix 24.1, I made another new ini setting "uploadurl_starpower" with the correct upload address.

Each time I had to add a new line to fretsonfire.ini, because if there was already an address there - the new default address would not get applied. That is why some people now have 3 lines in their fretsonfire.ini file.

If you were to delete your fretsonfire.ini file, the game would remake the "uploadurl" and "uploadurl_starpower" lines, but not the "uploadurl_sp" line - which was not used after the correction.

Can anyone make me a compilation with alerian 2.0 + all the hotfixes currently available?
I'd do it myself but I don't want to f*ck up my current setting. :(

One thought I had is because there is no real consensus on who wants what, we have a lot of options. Under the "Mod settings" section there are no choices. Maybe we should move things around to distribute and not make put all the options into one section so there are 20 things there. I think it would be more organized to have more sections with less choices. It would require a bit of code moving, but no actual changes in code (if the "Mod settings" section is used).

Thoughts?

Shiek, organizing the settings clutter is on my list of to-do here, I just realized I hadn't added it to the first post yet. I definitely intend to do this once the bigger problems are solved.

I'll create another full release after I fix the after-chord HOPO system. I would spend all my time uploading to MediaFire if I were to release a full version of FoF every time I fixed something :)

edit / update:

Fixed it. Still working on emp3ror's specific note pattern issue when after-chord HOPOs are enabled.

--28) Link -- GH2 Strict after-chord HOPOs have been fixed. You may now remove fingers from a chord in order to tap a lower (or higher) note than was included in the chord without breaking your streak.

Also, I'm uploading the full release of Alarian V2 with hotfix 28 pre-applied. ETA ~1hr.

...emp, was this the same song version you were reporting the bug in? If so, I'll DL and test with it later.

Very good work myfingershurt, this topic is the first I visit when I go on the forum ^^

Just a bug report about the "2 chords only" option:

I've noticed that when I play some 3 chords, the color of one frets shut down.

Image

As you can see on the image, the color of the yellow chord shut down and the red chord completly disappeared (maybe it's wanted, dunno...).

It occurs on all 3 chords that you "2 chord strum", but not always, sometime it's shown correctly (but the central chord always disappear, it's why I said it was maybe wanted).

Note that I'm left handed, I dunno if it occurs on righty mode... Well, not a big problem, but a graphic plus ^^

In others, i've got a suggestion about the 4 or 5 chords that you "2 chord strum" too.
I don't have a screen, but here's how it's in game:

G 0------------------------------
R 0------------------------------
Y 0------------------------------
B 0------------------------------
O

My keyboard allow me to play G+R+B, but I can't do R+Y+B. When this 4 chord appears, I must release the central frets and do only G+B. My suggestion is that if you can for example do G+R+B, when the 4 chord G+R+Y+B come, because I can strum the 2 farthest frets + 1 central fret, I can strum G+R+B in this 4 chord too.

"Why?" will you say... When I'm in a chord succession, if I have to release frets for only press the 2 farthest frets, it's not comfortable, and I lose points.

Thats good info on the 2-note max chord option... I use a guitar controller and so have never messed with 3-or-4-note chords on the keyboard.

I remember reading somewhere that Rogue_F coded the 2-note chords option that way on purpose. I have no idea how it works, as I've never messed with or even found the code that handles 2-note chords.

Anyone else here use 2-note chord keyboards to play FoF? What does everyone think? I don't even know how I would begin to try to fix that, and I wouldn't want to retrain myself to ignore 3-and-4-note chords to test hotfixes for it since that would adversely affect my ability to play fake guitar :)
