Not foolish when so many users report serious problems when updating. Me included.
Also, those fixes are nothing more than all the updates combined till the date, which since he has Windows Update he already has anyway. New features are scarce and not interesting for a casual user.

stop spreading lies. There is no reason not to keep windows updated with essential fixes.

you don't need to keep updating windows with every thing they come out with, if you have a decent anti-virus program then you should be all right, you also don't need all the updates they come out with for wmp and ie try using opera or firefox and any open sorce music apps. what it comes down to is that you could be running xp with any sp and your pc will be the same speed and still be safe

I installed it, i like being up to date. My computer seems faster than before.
Neo Just because you had a crappy experience, it doesn't give you the right to be a douche.
I bet the reports of successful installs are greater than the failed installs.

Don't do this. The idea that SP3 will break more things than fix them is absurd.

neo
The ideia that replacing vital system components is risk-free is stupid.

Yeah. Anyway, SP3 didn't break anything for me and boot times seem faster.

I didn't know there was a SP3, but from what I hear it's OK,

If it's just all the updates rolled into a Service pack you should install it, it can't hurt can it?

No, it can't hurt. And depending on how well you've kept up with updates, your download should be VERY small. The MS Update site will scan your computer for all of the updates that SP3 has, and depending on which ones you have, your DL will range from a few MB to possibly a couple hundred MB. But still, how can you say "no" to something that increases system performance, and something that fixes/patches security holes?
Download it. Trust me, it's worth it.

Can't say no to a system boost.

It's nearly unanimous, I should get it.
