I tried sending a mail to all members but I'm not sure it went through. I know I received it but I'm somewhat at the beginning of that list so I don't know. I'd be curious to know if other people did. Funny how it's not as easy as you'd think to send emails to 150,000 recipients
---- EDIT ----
Okay, I did a 2nd round and it seems it went through. I forgot to include an unsubscribe option to the mail. So if you want to be removed from that list simply reply to the mail and I will do that for you. Sorry about that.
Now I DID get the email, but it was in the SPAM folder, so I marked it as "Not Junk" and deleted it. Now it worked, the first time I didn't receive an email at all. Funny because I receive all the time emails from here about updates on subscribed topics.
Yeah, sending an email to 150.000 people don't work quite well as you may think... unless, of course, your email include some bank/gold/(spam)/v.i.a.g.r.a related information. Then I swear it works like a charm, and reaches the end of the world, the last WiFi spot in the last lost island of Galapagos Islands.

Okay I about had a heart attack when I tried doing my bi-yearly login to see how everyone's doing and got a spam website.
Even went as far as to contact the people I was friends with on here to see what was going on.
But google helped, domain change, huge sigh of relief. All is well.
Long Live FOF-FF!!!

Re: New domain! FretsOnFire.org
I remember just coming back using my Speed Dial 2 saves, to find that gambling BS site.
Luckily, I got wind of this via Discord. I just simply changed the URLs of the two Speed Dial 2 saves, and back in the game, so to speak.
No, I never got the email, not in my inbox or spam. Ah well...(I likely would of just marked it as read as I do for 90% of my emails.)

Oh my gosh the English community is still alive! I went searching for songs after a lot of time and most links were rotten.
I can't even put into words how glad I am this is not just alive, but on increased reliability!

Oh well hey! It finally happened eh? I'm very glad to see this forum still striving! congrats on the successful (though somewhat dirty) move!
Re: New domain! FretsOnFire.org
Wow! I got the email about the domain change and absolutely had to pop in to say hi. It's been almost a decade since I was strongly active on these forums, and it's cool to still see familiar faces. Last time I was here, I couldn't legally drink; now, it's been several years since I graduated college. This is super nostalgic.
Hello to everyone who remembers me. o/
Glad the community still has a leg to stand on, and more glad it didn't keel over with the domain. To many more years, you fine fellows!
(*Quietly looks for my x-plorer and searches my 14GB song collection.)

Life would be so much easier if we just had the damn source code.

Hi!
I think you should be warn about this: the old domain name redirect to a phishing website. It asks for a e-mail address to have "access" to this real forum (https://www.fretsonfire.org). And to make it more realistic, there is a blurred copy of the real forum in background (http://www.fretsonfire.net/bg.jpg).
So, do not give your email address and always use https ;).

I just gave them a 10 minute Email to see what it looked like after you give an email and after providing it, it links directly to the .org website to make it look legit.
Well, all they got from me is a disposable email. Hoping others see this warning.

I'm not a law-dude, but nothing can be done about that? 'Cause they say that they'll never share this email with anyone, but that's probably not gonna happen.

I'm not into law either, so I'm not entirely sure.
I may try it again with an email that doesn't go away in 10 minutes so I can monitor what all happens when if someone falls for that. I hope the Admins can do something about this, I'd hate to see this legacy of a game be tarnish over our old home becoming a breeding ground for phishing.

Re: New domain! FretsOnFire.org
Yeah we noticed the fake website and I actually talked with the guy. To be honest, I told him to do whatever he wants. The old domain's presence on Google as sunk a whole lot after we left with all the content. Plus the last email "campaign" reached a lot of people. It's sad but I just hope not too many people will get here after giving them their email.
I don't want to get in a fight with the old domain owner. He's into sketchy business and it would not be his first time dealing with the law. I'm not sure he cares that much. I still reported them for phishing to godaddy where the domain is registered and to internet vikings' abuse where they're hosting that website but I didn't get any response since.
If you want, you can do the same here:
https://supportcenter.godaddy.com/abusereport
[email protected]
Who knows, if there are enough complaints they might take it down.
---- EDIT ----
Good news, it seems they took the webpage down. Don't know if it's from complaints or from good will but I'm happy with the results :)
