Creating section markers
Hey, the last tutorial I could find on this is quite outdated and when I follow its instructions the name of the section doesn't appear over the beat I make an event on. Is it still working despite this? The barline turns red like any other event, but I can't tell if it's actually doing anything. Any help is appreciated!

In Preferences:
Then left click on a beatline, press Shift + E, type in the section name.
Beat -> Events is also another way to add sections.

Never messed around with preferences, thanks for that. Does the section have to have brackets around it to work?
Re: Creating section markers
You just need to put the section name itself, EoF takes care of the [section ...] part
Own projects:

Orden Ogan discography (WIP)
other things (conversions etc.):

Re: Creating section markers
Cool, works fine. Last question, is there anyone who can answer here or direct me to a thread that talks about section naming conventions? I know GH uses some wacky names for sections sometimes, and it's also not clear when to break up a section using numbers vs letters, etc.

Re: Creating section markers
It depends on which game you're authoring for. Frets on Fire related information is available here:

Re: Creating section markers
I chart for Phase Shift, but I don't see how that matters. Should a section be called Bridge A or Bridge 1, etc. is what I'm looking for. I'll still check out that link though, thank you.

Just open up a chart from myself or Sygen or even an official chart and see how we did it.
A number at the end of a section = That section will reappear somewhere else in the song (ex: Chorus 1, Chorus 2, Chorus 3...)
A letter at the end of a section = That section is long enough to be divided into smaller sections (ex: Verse 1A, Verse 1B, Verse 1C...)

Re: Creating section markers
As mentioned, you can name the section whatever you want, as long as it uses the syntax EOF automates for you:
[section SECTION NAME]
[section SECTION NAME]
