Did I? I didn't realise. Did you mean that they shouldn't put in something new to try and beat GH?
I don't really think that RB put in pro mode because they weren't doing as well as guitar hero.

1. It's called PRO mode for a reason.
2. PRO mode has difficulty settings (easy, medium, etc)
3. Who'd buy their 8 year old a $170 plastic guitar!
I understand that there are spoilt brats around, but this is $170 for just a controller.

I don't think PRO mode is excessive. It's emulated instruments in the rawest form we've seen yet.
I don't think it would have made sense to go far enough to add maybe 3 strings and 10 frets without going further.
Keys, is obvious. I'm a little dissapointed in the fact that it only charts 2 octaves, if something like the epic dream theater keyboard solos are ever charted, it would be a bit... messy.

1. Yet people will ignore it just like when everyone buys their first GH/RB they try to go straight to Expert.

Sweet, thanks for letting me know.
In case anyone's wondering, the tracks on the Demo are:

• Black Sabbath - "Children Of The Grave"

• Foo Fighters - "No Way Back"

• Slash featuring Ian Astbury - "Ghost"

• Dethklok - "Bloodlines"

Not always. I played easy and didn't have a clue how to play Slow Ride my first time.

That's funny, cause pretty much everyone I ever saw getting their first GH game always tried expert for like a week before they finally gave up. My point is people are gonna buy the thing thinking they can do it, but they will be mistaken. Let's just hope they decide to use the easier difficulties right off the bat so they don't get frustrated and quit.

I'm going to buy RB3 knowing that I have a very small amount of actual practice on my two electric guitars and can only play some simple riffs (ie. from "Bebe le Strange", "Barracuda", "Midnight Show", etc). The Fender Squier is going to make guitar practice more fun and less tedious. Plus when custom guitar pro charts come out, the MIDI guitar will be even better to have.

I'll definitely consider picking one up once customs start coming out. They should be pretty easy to make too, pretty much just take the tabs and put em in RB format.

As long as people don't pick up crappy internet tabs and expect them to translate into a decent custom chart. For the sake of a usable pro chart, people would probably have to limit themselves to authentic tablature or at least tablature that was actually published in its entirety (ie. not a simplified transcription).

From what i expect, the artist will have to tab them for Pro Guitar/Bass. Why rely on someone who doesnt even know the song inside and out.

CUSTOMS man. Read the post. When charting, we don't know the song inside and out either. Doesn't mean we can't still make good charts.

Well, tab books from your local music store will do wonders for this. I know my Guitar Center has a couple Dream theater whole album tab books :D

Actually, in this case it kinda does. The whole point is so they're the real notes you would play on a real guitar. If you would chart them to wrong strings/frets, theres no point.

That's my point. Fan-made tablature found on the internet is not reliable enough for some like pro customs. Tabs from a published book are probably the most reliable source because I'm sure that at least most of the time, they were checked by an experienced musician or the original artists themselves.

Still, I don't believe that someone can't make a fantastic tab just from listening to it.
