FoFiX and Windows 7

Postby _filipe_ » Fri Mar 26, 2010 8:32 pm

Well, I've been playing FoF for like 6 months in my PC with Windows Vista (version 3.100 and 3.030). But since when I installed windows 7, FoFix lags A LOT. I searched the forums and the internet and looks like a lot of people are having this problem. I did everything that was possble.

=>Tried diferents updates of my videocard.
=>Tried py2.4 ogl2 and py2.6 ogl3.
=>Used Megalight and Uberlight Theme.
=>Used the pure speed quick set.
=>Tried to use custom sets I found on the Internet.

But nothing worked. So what you guys think ?
Is the problem hardware related or windows 7 fails to run FoFiX?

MY PC specs:

Core2Duo E4500 2.20GHz
1GB RAM
Intel 82945G Exoress Chipset Familly 250MB (really bad video card but I could run any version of FoFiX when I had Vista.)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits.

I would re-download the game and test it out. Make sure to move your themes and songs folders out of the old one first! If it's still laggy, post back again.
Can we get this forum going again?

It's not Windows7. I have it and FoFiX runs smooth as silk :D the 1GB of RAM might be a problem, but you should be able run the lower themes like megalight and uberlight.

that 1 gig is probably the problem, its actually recommended to have atleast 2 gigs with W7...

No, RAM isn't the problem. I did a clean install to Windows 7 x64 from XP Pro and now FoFiX runs like absolute crap, whereas it used to run excellently. I'm here with four gigs of memory and experiencing this same issue. Could it be that it isn't meant for a 64 bit OS?

Hi All,
Loving Fofix on a 64bit install of Win7 here, no lag issues.

These are my specs:
e6600
2gig of ram
onboard realtek ALC888 chip
HD3850 vid

It could be a driver issue, try using a driver cleaning prog and doing a fresh install of both your vid and sound drivers.
Of course 1 gig can't help, get more mem regardless.

1st) Epic bump.
2nd) I solved the problem months ago. I just downgraded the video drivers to Vista's.
