FoFiX Vocal Questions

Postby Kueller917 » Sun Sep 27, 2009 2:01 pm

I got FoFiX 3.120 and there's some stuff about the vocals I'm confused about. I haven't seen these issues covered in the FAQ

1. What program do you chart vocals with. I used another program which charted pitch, and for an older FoFiX it made a good scrolling lyrics on top but now that you actually play vocals the vocal track won't load. Same with the early EOF vocal charter

2. For some reason when the vocal track goes it only shows about half the phrase and the lines seem a bit high up on the track. These are with RB songs, not my own, which don't work as said in #1.

I'm having this same problem no matter what theme I use....
I saw a post somewhere that mentioned something about making scrolling vocals (mine are always static) under gameplay options...I don't have ANYTHING vocals related under Gameplay Options. Help?

Yeah, I've looked into that option. I know music very well so for me writing the notes down kind of in one step might be easier. I'm looking into a lot of options.

You have to enable advanced options, and then go to Gameplay options/ Vocals.... I've have mine scrolling, but the lyrics arent showing well already, in some parts words show up thogether like "comeasyou are" (I've tried with rb2 songs y rb DLC )
for karaoke FOFIX doesn't work!

Hmm, do the vocal pitches seem weird to you. For me the pitches are unusually high up, which is awkward to sing, and only about half the phrase is shown. I know it's half the phrase because I've seen jurgen singing during an invisible highway (and the song keeps going)

Yeah i agree with Kueller917, there is something very wrong with the karaoke mode in FoFix. I got my RB USB mic and I can't score anything at all in FoFix, tried GH on PS2 and I rocked... Tried RB2 songs and some other tracks I had. There is something wrong for sure.

Of course, its still in development. No one says its as perfect as RB/GH vocal mode.

Oh well yes of course. I wouldn't expect much. I think the main problem was just the game's inability to pick up pitches very well. As for the needle, I just moved it up a little more and it lined up with the tubes perfectly

All you need to know... Issue 873 Issue 949

T3HM3T4L:I've tried to sign up for Rock Band but they just won't allow me. They keep complaining I have to 'be over 18' while I've already been 18 for over half a year, and a sign up where I noted I was born in the '50s STILL GAVE ME THAT MESSAGE

So if anyone could help me get these templates, I'd very much appreciate it. I need it to edit notes and stuff for my Rock Band 2.

aander91:Sorry, but that'd be providing for minors, which is illegal.

T3HM3T4L:But I'm 18 years old... ?

aander91:Nope. Sorry.

T3HM3T4L:Nono, you're getting me wrong, I was asking how come I am still considered a minor?

aander91:Look, we can't just go out giving these things away to people who just say they're over 18 and show no proof, we'd be out of a job.

T3HM3T4L:Nevermind, I'll use EoF for it, I found the way I could use it for that.

I understand the pitch issues still in the works, but what about the problem of lyrics being invisible altogether? They exist because FoFiX scores you badly on them, but they simply aren't appearing on the screen. I'm working on my first vocal track and have marked phrase sections accurately, though the first word(s) tend to just not show up at all in FoFiX itself when playing.

In fact, when I use scrolling vocals, I can actually see the first lyric on its way, but it's grayed. And then it disappears from the screen before the song reaches it. Not understanding this one...

From my experience when that happens it's because the phrase marker starts right when the note starts. And for some reason FoFiX can't read that. I make the phrase start about a 16th note to a beat early

How exactly do you do that? I'm using EOF and the only method I can tell to create phrase markers is to highlight the notes you want and choose to mark them. Not exactly sure how you can include blank space behind the first lyric.

-- Edit: Wed Sep 08, 2010 8:16 pm --

Huh. Actually, I figured a workaround. By extending the first lyric by one and then moving it back a single space. Then I mark it before moving the lyric forward one space and back into position, and contracting it back one space. That way the marker remains one space before the first lyric and reaches all the way to the end of it, thinking it's longer than it is.

If that makes enough sense >_>

Seems practical enough. Nice workaround. I use Reaper so you place your phrases manually (by adding a note and just extending it the length of the phrase).
