Just a question I thought I'd throw out to the forum before I start searching through google etc. :)

When I bought my GH controller, it came with Guitar Hero (the game).. I don't have a playstation 2 though and have no intention of getting one.

Is anyone aware of a 'working' playstation2 emulator for Windows that will allow me to play my original Guitar Hero disc?

I wouldn't mind playing/seeing the original Guitar Hero game

I have a PSone and a PC emulator for this which works great.. just wondering if anyone knows of the same that is available for Playstation 2... specifically one that supports Guitar Hero.

They are out there but are still being developed, and most are buggy and run slow. you can check out ROMNation.net/ to send you in the right direction and see whats up.

Hey! Homerrulz, Now that I think about it someone on here has a PS2 emulator. It was amplitude, he said all he could get was the training room to run good tho, he talked about it in the Fretboard Perspective topic. Ask him I'm sure he can help.

yes, ps2 emulation is very bad/slow and not working.
you'd be better off just getting a PS2.
(or sticking with the 'free' stuff.) ;)

But would you want to just for those 3 games?
That would be a tough call to have to get a system and fork out for the 3 games and guitars. (if you dont have the guitars yet)

The future of GH and RockBand will be on the 360 & PS3.
I wonder if they would ever consider a PC version?
You would think it could be done considering what we have now.

I guess if you don't have the $$, FOF and GZ conversions of the songs will be the best bet for you.

If you don't need the disk and guitar, you can always just give them to me :)

Even though they are fairly cheap now, I know it would collect dust after a short while.. just like my PSone has until I recently decided to replay through FF7.

I've found PCSX2, several plugins etc which may or may not do what I'm after... probably not but i'll give it a go :)

I believe the rule for emulation is roughly that the PC needs to be around 4 times as powerful (in all areas) as the system. I've been out of emulation for a while but I remember that's why Saturn and Dreamcast couldn't be emulated at all back in my day.

I'll tell you: It works fine with the games that are labeled with a green color, BUT, you'll get crap speeds with it. I sure as hell ain't getting a PS 2 so, I'll be waiting for the guys to improve the emulation or optimize it or whatever. I think the hard part's mostly done, the games do show up and if you were Dalai Lama, you could go through FF X with crap FPS. They have some hard optimization to do, though.

According to PCSX2.net Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2 are rated as "Ingame" compatibility which means.

"You can get through menus, intro cutscenes / videos, and see ingame graphics, but either due to graphical bugs, crashes, un-resolved errors, you can't play through the entire game."

Yeah there are quite a few games for PS2 emulators that are fully playable, I've just never had much success with them.

BTW there are several Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast emulators out there that work with most if not all games. Game Cube, Xbox, and PS2 not so much.

As mentioned before there are many PSone emulators that run all games with a few tweaks needed for some games.

yea, if you read other threads or look at their website, PCSX2 - the only good ps2 emulator that exists to my knowledge - only lets GH2 get to the training background screen before it stops working.
