I thought that the SVN was set up to keep up with the latest FoFiX changes, so that the theme could have release for the major releases of FoFiX (What's the bloody point in having major releases for FoFiX if there's no theme downloads?)

I agree with this. I don't think SVN should be a be-all end-all. It's nice for when things are changing, and for alpha testers who already use it.. but a full on update of the theme should also be supplied every now and again as well. At least as often as every major FoFiX release.

For a theme SVN is extremely easy to use, FoFiX is more complicated but i will explain exactly what to do right here.
1. Download FoFiX 3.1
2. Download Tortoise SVN (google it)
3. Install both.
4. Go into the FoFiX installation folders (either through my computer or under my programs).
5. Got to the folder Data => Themes
6. Create a new folder called "Rock Band 2" or whatever you want.
7. Right click on the folder and you will see an option "SVN Checkout" Click that.
8. Now copy and paste the repository link into the first textbox. " http://svn.xp-dev.com/svn/kristijan_mkd_RockBand2Theme/ "
9. Finally click ok.
10. Now whenever you know there is an update or you just want to check, go to that folder, right click it and press update. (You may have to do this immediately if it does not do it for you to get the files to originally download.

Any questions?

Don't insult me. I know how to use SVN, and I have.. a total of one time. I am grateful now because bass doesn't crash during a BRE. I have no desire to alpha test FoFiX, so I deleted everything right after I updated. For a theme, it's a bit more understandable.. but even still, not every change and addition made will be seen since I don't keep up with alphas. What's the problem with putting out a normal release that everyone will see in working condition? Hell, even FoFiX itself does this.. imagine if they just said, "Screw you and use SVN, it's not that hard. lawlz."

Shouldn't have to put anything in the mods folder. Just put the extracted Rock Band 2 folder into the data/themes folder. When you start FoFiX, change the theme to Rock Band 2 in the display settings.

Help, I can't install the theme.

It aint that hard kid...

Just restart over and do this.

1.Download FoFIX - http://www.mediafire.com/?nojwzlmyzjg
2.Extract the folder to wherever.
3.Download Rock band 2 mod - http://www.mediafire.com/?zjwdwwkgj3w
4.Extract to Frets on Fire Folder/Data/Themes
5.Run Frets On Fire.exe

Really, how hard is that. If it doesn't work or you can't read the instructions then go to the FoFIX topic for help. It might be something wrong with Frets on Fire and not the theme.

well first off i wasn't trying to insult you i was trying to help. Second of all the reason i think they do mostly svn is because it is easier with a theme but i do understand why you would want a regular download link, I might upload a revised version of it in a few days but again it will be obsolete in about a day with the constant updates.

If a alpha tester wants to use a theme the best bet would be using a SVN checkout (he/she is allready familiar with SVN checkouts). But a normal player is most likely not, and is only interested in a theme that is compatible with his current FoFiX installation, so the download should go with the latest stable release, and thus not be outdated untill a new stable FoFiX version is released.
Anyway, someone will need to see if there's a revision that goes well with FoFiX 3.100 and upload somewhere. I'm a bit busy myself unfortunately. :(

As someone who is pretty much exclusively using SVN to update themes where possible is completely up to date with this theme and FoFiX alphas, and thinks SVN really is quite easy to use...

There should be a new main download. I'm kinda trusting KID to get his graphics sorted out and finalized, then post a new download with a new version (perhaps called 1.6.7, or even 1.8). I'm reluctant to upload a version myself, because as I said, I'm not sure what KID has left to do on the theme.
At the very least, a new main version would stop a lot of questions/complaints.

Uh-oh, it seems there are some issues.

Tail 1 and the sidebars are probably the most notable, in that they aren't there at all. No sidebars on the fretboard, no overdrive flashes, and no tails on notes until you actually hit them. I'm sure there are others, but this is all I see so far.

When I look in the theme folder itself it seems that these images were reduced from normal length to a smaller one? In any case, I'm not getting any tails, overdrive flashes, or sidebars. This reminds me quite a bit of the GH tail issues, and I have to wonder if they are similar.

Is anyone else getting these issues on linux? (I don't doubt you Lysdestic, I just want to make sure you're not the only one)

hmm, the images you were referring to were re sized to 1 pixel in height because they are scaled anyways... the weird thing is, my side bars and such are fine... and i have the same 1pixel high images.

care to explain more about the GH problem?
