I'm getting the same error Saul was earlier in the thread. I downloaded version 1.324 and followed the instructions exactly as they were presented in the readme. Copied the contents of the "data-new" into my data folder, copied and pasted fretsonfire-rfmod.exe onto the fretsonfire.exe. When I did this, it gave me a windows error saying to "check the FretsOnFire.exe.log for details". I opened that up, and it gave me this information:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "FretsOnFire.py", line 64, in ?
File "GameEngine.pyo", line 189, in
File "Mod.pyo", line 32, in init
File "Mod.pyo", line 41, in getAvailableMods
WindowsError: [Errno 3] The system cannot find the path specified: 'data\\mods/*.*'
When I try to run the game it plays the intro music, but gives me a red screen with a yellow line at the top.
Saul seems to have fixed his problem, and I'd like to get it working too, seeing as how the hopos on the rf-mod seem to have everyone squeeing with joy. Bear in mind that this is from a completely new 1.324 install, no other mods have been applied, nothing.
Any help, guys? It would be greatly appreciated.

Ok... so I went in and tried something. I pasted the contents of Data-new into my data folder, then I changed the name of the data folder to data-new. At the very least, the error message didn't pop up. So I tried to start the game. Nothing happened. Tried it again. Again, nothing happened.
So I decided to check the fretsonfire.exe.log file again, since it was SO helpful the last time. There is a new error there.
It reads:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "FretsOnFire.py", line 27, in ?
ImportError: No module named GameEngine
Now I'm stuck. I don't have the first clue what this means, nor how to fix it. Help, please.

1. move everything from data folder into data-old (except folders (mods, songs, translations)
2. go to data-old and copy all files
3. paste all files back into the data folder
4. copy all files from data-new to the original data folder, overwriting the old files
5. replace your original fretsonfire.exe with the new one, placing it in the FoF folder, not the data folder
that is how i read the directions and i haven't had any problems.
in fact i tried to copy the new exe onto the old on (effectively opening the new exe with the old game exe) and got the same errors. you don't open the new one with the old one, you replace the old one with the new one. or so that is what i did. i hope this works for you.
i would have posted earlier, but one of my storage drives decided to crash and windows didn't know what the f*** was going on, so i had to kill it

Thanks again Rogue
Got RF_3.0 up and running today. Got 3 bugs at the moment, that I think I can work out. But I was hoping
by posting them someone may help me get through them quicker?
Bug-1: When I change some settings(eg video), then apply new settings I get an error. Short description: it tells me to check the "Frets_On_Fire-RF-mod.exe.log'."
Couldn't tell you where to check it myself. But I figured if it was a commong bug someone smarter than me could figure this one out.
BTW just closing FOF all the way out and restarting it seems to sort this problem out.
Bug-2: Most of the folderd songs seem to be working, except for my own made songs folder. When I select a song in this folder, I get a screen that reads "select song" on it and nothing else. Insted of the usuall select difficulty or the song just starting if there is only one difficulty.
I think I may already have this one figured if I remember what I read earlier on in this thread last night. Was it in this version(RF-mod 3.0) you want the song.ogg for the track to play? In the songs I made, I only ever made the guitar.ogg. So do I need to rename them song.ogg?
Bug-3: I'm getting those black lines on my folder labels again. I solved this last time by switching video settings. This time it didn't work.
This is how I found bug-1 BTW.

rexmundi/dusttraveller - you need to delete the old fretsonfire.exe and replace it with my new one. You can't paste the exe over the old one. This is a windows thing, not a RF-mod thing.
for #2 i'd have to know what was in the folder you are using. Any song that worked before should work here.
#3 you need to use the lower res folderlabel.dae in the contrib directory.

Wish I could edit.
Anyhow more info on Bug-2 My foldered songs. I went back through them. A few did work, so it doesn't seem to be because of only having guitar.ogg. These were the one's that didn't; "ATHF" by Schooly D, "Bang Your Head" by Quiet Riot, "Cassise..." by Acid Bath, "Cum On Feel..." by Quiet Riot and "Imperial March."
Can't figure why they arn't working now. I didn't mess with the songs folder while installing the mod. I went through more of the other songs in my collection. Short of testing them all they seem to be working.
I tried making a new "Imperial March." By editing a new song. And just pasting the notes. But no dice same problem.
Gotcha on pasting over the exe. Figured that out today. But that error is when I try to change settings, not on starting the game.

Yes, that apperars to have been it. Got two of them running that way. Gonna' try the rest.
Ty for all the help....
Yes that was it.
Noticed something when I did a run through of "Imperial March" was appearnty easier cause I got 100%. But the score was lower than my previous scores. Does RF-3.0 have an affect on the scoring?
