No, not really. You're saying you should have to hold down the HoPo sequence, and in reality you shouldn't.
Goodbye everyone. It's been fun. I spent many many hours here on these boards and playing/contributing to FoF. Today I uninstalled my game and deleted all my files. I just don't have the time or interest anymore. I won't be coming back here anymore. I might show up in the IRC from time to time to chat. I regret nothing.

So long, farewell.

First off, I am new to Frets. However, with HO/PO has made learning some of the songs easier and gave me higher scores. I agree with the detection. It seems that in some tunes, if you hit the hote it will register a hit but the note wont hold and the score doesn't accumulate.

Anyone else seen this happen?

i can use it well, but i hate it. HO notes can be spread halfway through the song and you can HO them. :( must be fixed.

I hate it, and I hate it even more that the coders did'nt make an option enable/disable.

Geez, what's wrong with you guys?!

You don't like HOPOs? Use the old version.
You want to use the new version? Learn HOPOs.
Simple as that.

Always keep in mind that neither the devs nor anyone else around here owe you anything! Some of the posts here (esp. winniez's, who started no less than three threads whining about this!) sound outright demanding... as a developer, you quickly lose motivation if all you get from the community is ****, whining and bugging for this and that feature or whatever. Trust me, you're not helping the situation. At all.

...also, I have never played Guitar Hero and have always wondered how anyone could play these super-fast licks, I couldn't strum nearly as fast and regularly as required, let alone play the frets simultaneously. With HOPOs I can keep up with most licks, it kinda removes the physical limitation of button mashing and shifts this difficulty to fretting coordination. I love it. :)

Strumming on HOPO notes works fine for me, too, I can play just like I did before and not miss more or less notes than I did prior to this update... however, I do agree that there are too many HOPO notes, that should be reduced a bit.

He has a point, I mean the people around here that do mods also download and use mods and songs. Therefore we are all indebted to those around us.

That's the whole reason I started modding, to give back.

1. Having a choice over a matter is always better than having it forced upon you.
2. The HO/PO doesn't really work like a charm. In a song, I discovered that I had to strum while playing a tappable note. And yes, I DID play the former note correctly, before you try to slap that in my face. And in my version of SOAD - Lonely Day, I saw a two note chord, one was regular and the other was tappable. I dare you to play that. (Even if it's not actually a chord, the notes were close enough to make one.)

I wasn't talking to all of you of course, but posts like this
please... I hate to beg but I can't play this game anymore and if I can't play ... I will not test / make / release new songs ...

"OR ELSE!", are just not appropiate.

In a song, I discovered that I had to strum while playing a tappable note.

Didn't notice that yet, but I'm almost certain I sometimes tap notes which should be strummed. Could just be my right hand thinking faster than my brain, though. Don't quote me on that. ;)
Ah well, bugs can happen. I found it working quite well for all the songs I tried it with... if you notice it's not working well on a passage, just play it without tapping. At least for me that always worked.

And in my version of SOAD - Lonely Day, I saw a two note chord, one was regular and the other was tappable. I dare you to play that. (Even if it's not actually a chord, the notes were close enough to make one.)

...so, you're saying two extremely close notes are easier to play without HOPO? I think not having to strum twice makes them a lot easier :p

Well, I'd also try to look from grensley's point of view.

No, think of a chord with one tappable note and one regular.

If there's a problem with the tapping in a lazer explosion (Like that chord with one tapper and one strummer) it's most likely the fault of the person who made it. FOF follows a specific formula for calculating HOPO's, and alot of songs were probably not made with that formula in mind. Of course, they should make it so that chords aren't tappable, but it's all good.

Valodim, if the people don't let them know all the little problems, it'd be harder for them to fix it. If you didn't notice, it's not just a bunch of whining about this and that problem around here. Most of the forum is dedicated to other things, like making lazer explosions, creating mods, and improving the performance of the game. But most of us who have been playing this game for awhile have gotten past the point of "WOW, A GUITAR HERO FOR PC!? AND IT'S FREE? AWESOM!!!111!!". And if the Devs release a feature that's not up to par, they should hear about it. I mean, do you tell mothers not to complain that the baby shampoo hurts their eyes, even though it now kills 99.9 percent of the germs?

Right, and I never denied that. Criticism is good. I just think the ratio of whiners is rather high is all :)

Looking forward to your Zelda Theme, btw.

It's impossible to play some songs with ho/po. My brain sees a fret, i press enter. Thats how it registers. HO/PO should be a selectable option, so everyone can be happy.

I don't remember much whining about the old version.. now why is that?

The ratio of whiners on the NEW version is high - correct.. (i'm included).. its high for a good reason... the new version is simply not playable..

I'm glad the devs are still working on FOF trying to improve it etc
I greatly appreciate the work they put in (i'm sure everyone does)

but if it has problems - they should be made aware of it...
they do want the feedback - why else would there be a comments page on their own web site?

The new version is so bad, that I (along with others) simply do not and can't use it... and have gone back to using the older one.
My custom songs can now be found in the one place:-Homerrulz Song Thread
