Purchasing a Guitar Controller

Postby X1R1 » Wed Nov 05, 2008 4:18 am

Hello Everyone!!! Im considering purchasing a Guitar Controller for FoF, I did a little Research and found out that PS3 guitars are just plug-and-play in FoF (you only need to configure the keys and you are done, or at least thats what FoF wiki says)

So I went on amazon and started looking for some, and I find this nice looking guitar:

http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-Paul-Wireless-Guitar/dp/B000TTITLO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1225870644&sr=1-2

Does someone on this forum has it??? or else, has anybody heard good or bad things of it?

And most important, will it work with FoF (I have MFH mod)??

I just want to make an informed choice, hope you guys can help :2thumbsup:

Don't get a wireless controller. Get a wired one. Wireless is possible but is 100x harder to do. You need a wireless reciever thing and **** like that. I would recommend the white explorer from (xbox 360)

If I can make a suggestion, Id suggest that you buy the WII LES PAUL, not the PS3 one. The wii one is easier to connect and it is heavier which makes it better for power strumming (strumming very very fast without dropping your streak)

The wireless receiver is included with the guitar I posted, so no need to purchase aditional stuff

The wii one? There would be an ugly hole in the guitar because I dont have the wii controller (maybe thats why the guitar is heavier), lol, also I think that maybe a little harder to configure than the ps3 one.

Thank you very much for your replies. the more the better
The cool one :D

The wii les paul is MUCH lighter than the ps3/360 les paul. Also, for the wii, you need a bluetoothe receiver and a wiimote
LES PAUL IS AMAZING!!! Get it. The only problem with these guitars its that after about 4 months of heavy use, the detatchable neck starts to take it's toll.

Follow this guide and it works great. I haven't had a problem in 3 months. :)

To use the Wii guitars, you need a Wiimote.

If you want a guitar, it might be cheaper to go with a PS2/3 or Xbox one, since you'll need a Bluetooth adapter and a Wiimote (looking at 70$ for the guitar...30$ for wiimote, 30$ for the guitar, 10$ for the Bluetooth adapter).

Also, just my opinion, I would never buy a guitar for a system I don't own, mainly because I may get "other" GH games (I own World Tour), and I wouldn't want to spend over $90 for a guitar and game bundle.
PM me for my Wii or DS Friend Codes.

http://www.fretsonfire.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=38434 My Wii GH:WT Guitar and Drum GlovePIE script. Also supports GH3 guitars!
Since "DragonFail" "sucks" so much, I won't post anything related or about them any longer.

Oh yeah, i forgot about that. I already have a wii/wimote so i didnt take into account that you would have to buy one and my computer comes with a built in bluetooth reciever. Also, the wii guitar IS heavier than the PS3/360, I use all 3 very often and can tell the obvious difference.

Thats why I am considering to buy the ps3 version, seems its the most reliable, also its $10 cheaper than the Xbox or wii ones. Its nice to get feedback from someone that already owns the thing. Very nice!!!

Yes, the wii is the heaviest one, but the PS# is the sturdiest (best built) one.

it's easier to purchase a ps3 guitar hero or rockband controller
i already have a rock band controller and that's all i use.
i wouldn't advise using it for songs like through the fire and the flames, the strumming is to slow

i actually use a ps2 sg. all i had to do was get the 10 dollar blue thing to make it work with the computer and that was it. The sg is the best plastic guitar ever made and its really cheap, like 15 20 dollars so that would be what i got.

Get a 360 explorer. Trust me, they are easy to use and perfect. The Les Pauls are extremely bad.

could you post a link or something like that to see it? I really would like a wireless one, so feel free to post links to your favorite guitar and why is your favorite.

Ok since the mayority of people here replied that the les paul is of bad quality, I have changed my mind, that SG guitar looks really nice ans it costs a fraction of the les paul price ($20 from redoctane site), and the explorer one is wired and I dont want to get a wired one.

This one looks pretty good

Or this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-3-Fro ... _rhf_p_t_3

and I read a review about this one saying that it was pretty good (IGN review).
