So I've been making lots of labels lately and it seems like I'm going to make even more in the near future. Because I don't want to be the only person making labels for different packs right now, I decided to write a tutorial so more people can easily make labels.
I'm sure some Photoshop virtuoso is going to hate me now, I prolly do everything wrong :p .
Honestly, I'm really bad with Photoshop and all my labels are very, very basic. But still, I can make some pretty nice looking labels, like this:
So what did I do to that label? Here's how you can do the same:
Download this template, which is made by fddr153. I edited the text on the edges, you can change that to whatever you like in Photoshop.
Template has 4 layers, base, center, text and paint effect. When you make a label, you need to place all the pics over base and below all the others, like shown here:
http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q377/Berrgk/Temp/Pic1.jpg
When making that label, I googled for Disturbed and found this picture (not the exact same, different colors). It's good for a label, because it has bands logo in it too so you don't have to get that separately. I copied that to template and looked for another picture, in case there would have been something better and found this, copied that too.
I resized both images to fit label better by hitting Ctrl + T to be able to freely transform the pic. By holding Shift while resizing, you can keep the edges the same compared to each other.
I placed the second pic over the first one and made it slightly transparent. Right click the layer you want to edit and choose "Blending options". That way and set transparency etc, there's plenty of options for different effects. You need to cut the black background out, read "But what if you have to get bands logo separately?" in the end of the tutorial to do so.
Last thin left to do was to add song name, in this case "Liberate". I added the text but it looked a bit boring so I wanted it have some effects, so I opened blending options again, this time for the text layer. I messed a bit there and got it look the way I wanted.
But what if you have to get bands logo separately?
Open a pic of the logo in PS and make all other layers invisible (the eye next to the layer). Click Select --> Color Range:
Try some different settings so you can either get all the unwanted area or the actual logo you want. When you've got that done, hit delete and all the extra stuff is gone, or first right click and "select inverse" if you have selected the logo itself. Usually tou don't have to mess with anything, just hit ok and you have all the extra stuff selected. If you can't select what you want, you can either use magic wand tool to select all small bits of it manually or... do it some better way I can't :p .
You want the logo to be on top of the first layer, so it should look something like this:
Deal with the logo as it was any other layer.
One more thing left to do, cutting out the edges.
1: Select the layer you wanna trim ('Layer 1' in this case)
2: Hold Ctrl & left-click the Base layer -you'll get an outline of the base like the pic below
3: Right click the picture -> "select inverse" and hit delete.
Here's how it finally looks like in PS (of course, you don't want the text to be cut off like that):
Save your work as label.png and your done!
If there's amything you want to ask, just ask. I answer if I can, as I said, I'm not good at this.
Big thanks to Berrgk!!, who took pics and pointed out some other things.

You're not alone kotti...
I spent a lot of time to make labels but I think guys aren't fans of cd labels or I don't know ???
In fact, winniez has done a great job to make cassette labels
therefore some of us haven't found interest to do the same big work for cd.
I know how to make labels (Thanks to the Wildone's video)
and I use Paint.net, it's free and more easy, you can add "plugin" and it's 90% photoshop (I suck on it ,only in english, and use a lot of resources ..)
I don't know if we can ulpoad more labels but we have
http://fofchart.exofire.net/labels/ database, and some of us have already made web pages with labels (wildone, raph, fin*lfret etc etc )
perhaps we can work on it...a BIG DATABASE
I can help, but I dont have free time to make all i want (love my bb
wow Kotti, it may be your longest post and mine too , I hope you understand me
personnal message : fof veteran powaaaaaa ! noobs sucks, leech and cheat

hey man, mind if i add a little
maybe this pic for;
You can use 'Select > Color Range' to cut the black background out of this pic:
Clicking OK here would select just the parts you have highlighted.
-mess with the 'fuzziness' & use the +Dropper (whatever its called -like in the pic) coz there's alot of shades in that part.
Edit & Cut that part out -get rid of the garble.
Edit & Paste it into your label template
-It'll make a new layer which in this case you want as layer 3:
Right click the image/layer and Free Transform or use the Blending Options, transparency etc. -whatever ya flavour
& to cut the Cd out of the BG layers -(get rid of the chit outside the template);
1: select the layer you wanna trim ('Layer 1' in this case)
2: hold Ctrl & left-click the Base layer -you'll get an outline of the base like the pic above
3: Edit > Cut that out -& just delete that layer now (with the little bin -bottom right) its just the excess chit you don't want.
4: Edit > Paste
Leave for 2mins an rinse. Repeat as necessary.
this is just a quick knock up, you'd obviously not want the text cut off ect..
save as .png

Yeah, I'm aware of that. But I was talking about the recent labels. I made labels for PH3, making for FoFH2, maybe Epic War Hero and some other random stuff. Only other big label packs I've noticed since Def_Monk's GH3 labels are Berrgk!!'s GH:A and RB labels.I spent a lot of time to make labels but I think guys aren't fans of cd labels or I don't know ???

@Berrgk!!:
Thanks, I'll add something to first post. I completely forgot to add the part about cutting out edges.
Yup, long posts ain't for me. And my ex-longest post got deleted a while back.wow Kotti, it may be your longest post and mine too , I hope you understand me

Re: Easy label making tutorial - For Photoshop users
I'm pretty good at this now thanks to your tutorial. I made a label for one of my own songs that i made
(btw that's not what the outside of my other labels will say. i just couldn't think of anything else to put at the moment)
the picture i used is from a very long (yeah very long.) time ago, but it is my favorite picture of me.
