re: the guitar parts playing too fast...
I just tried to play Jessica and it played way too slow!
The game also crashes to desktop when I search my Downloads folder. Here is the error from the log:

Okay I've figured out the speed problem - it happens when you change sample frequency in sound options. It seems to be tied to the speed of the guitar.ogg track. If you have songs playing too fast, bring it down, and if they're too slow bring it up.
The strange thing is it seems to affect different songs differently. I haven't tested it enough to come up with a reason why this might be the case.

I haven't played around with the new version too much just yet, but initial thoughts aren't good
lets see...
1. choosing to jump to a song by typing a letter randomly crashes my computer (boots me back to windows!)
2. sound is awful... ok if you don't play anything, but as soon as you start hitting notes... it sounds as though something large and heavy is being dragged across a concrete floor (the kind of sound you hear when pushing a box in tomb raider for example)
3. It looks good, but I fear I may get a seizure from the bright flashy lights :p
4. HOPO don't always work (well not for me anyway)..
on the plus side... its a lot smoother to run

Unplayable on Mac OS X with an intel mac (Macbook C2D).
It will crash on bootup before a window is even created, and the python console says there's a problem with timedate.so
When putting the timedate.so from the former version, it creates a window then crash, aparently because there's no /mod directory in /data.
When creating such a directory, the games starts (at last), but obviously it's a mix of the former and current version (like, nothing in the option to chose between fancy and light graphics).
Once you chose a song, you get an error then, the game starts... you can notice the notes are from the new design but not the background. And when you try to hit the first note, it brings you to the end of the song with a score of zero.
If you try to replace the whole python 2.4 directory by the one from the former version, you get weird bugs, and no song will start (you stay on a dark red screen).

Winniez,
1) As I noted in my own HOPO emails that people in general would NOT be happy with HOPO. I have a toggle to turn it on and off (global) and also to have it song.ini selectable. I believe mine has more 'give' and the majority of the problems are related around the 'i want to pick a hopo note' issues. And when the HOPO is actually used on songs (not always where you expect)
2) Their folder stuff is not the same as mine. I don't know if there is a color option for the folder (though the brief case looks a lot better than the box did)
3) Your other problem about the can't read guitar.ogg is because of the difference in the RF-mod and new FOF folders. I use a song.ini in the folder. They do not. They interpret the song ini as something else then look for a guitar.ogg in the top level folder.

1. please work on this
2. true, it must be library.ini, it solves my pb to rename them and remove the =folder= line
3. it's "color" no more "cassettecolor" but it's not working better
