Yeah, but fret tapping will never sound like picking :)

Regarding the HOPO/Pick clash, I think the best way to fix that is to make it so once a note has been HOPO'd, picking is disabled for the first, say, second of that note. That means the problem shouldn't occur because even if you pick after you fret, it wont count because you've already HOPO'd, but as far as you're concerned you've picked it anyway :)

well im not really supporting the "tapping" industry but im just saying its possible. it would be cool if they could do that specially for the buckethead songs since that is what they do in real life.

yea but i dont think it should be ignored for that note to the next note, maybe ignore only one pick within a few miliseconds

theres 2 ways of resolving this issue.
1)let the pick override the HOPO
2) let the HOPO overide the pick

i personally think letting the pick override HOPO would be the best possible solution. just think about it, #2 does have some flaws such as when you pick, the note wont dissapear as you pick instead, whenever the hopo feels like taking it away

Someone will probably make a mod allowing each song to have a "HOPO" file so you can customise the HOPO yourself (or download other peoples). The way I see it working is like this:

A txt file is generated with each note on a new line (frets 1-5) followed by an =.

A=Auto Detect
P=Pick
H=HOPO

By default the file would be

1=A
3=A
5=A
4=A
4=A
3=A
1=A
4=A
2=A
3=A

But people could edit...

1=P
3=P
5=P
4=P
4=P
3=H
1=H
4=P
2=H
3=H

I'm no coder but it could probably be done somehow :p

Have you seen some of the guitar hero freestyle videos on you tube? I seen kids finger tapping using both hands through long solos, I seen kids play switch to a over hand style and back quickly like Dragonforce. There are some sick GH players out there. I'm glad now that FoF playing style just got more diverse too.

well prehaps a option will settle this where you can enable or disable "tapping". i dont want to get into a arguement but if there was tapping in FoF then the highscore charts would be flawed. i mean if they were to implement "tapping", at the end of the song it should say Tapped (EX: if u played fury of the storm, "fury of the storm tapped"

yea or they can just make it so that in the editor you can put a chek on each note u want HOPO'd. if u put no cheks @ all itll all be auto detected

I noticed that you can HOPO chords, I thought that was one of the main rules they put in the argorithm. Also theres no stage for me :S not sure why, havent investigated it at all yet. Does seem to run alot smoother than the previous version and if the note accuracy is loosened slightly the HOPOs would have major potential.

EDIT: Oh ok, I get stuff. Light Graphics means light (not heavy) graphics, not light (lights and stage etc) graphics.

well u can do that in real life so yes, you can do it here. guitar hero has poisoned your mind. its not a guitar hero simulation, its a guitar simulation

The one great thing about this new version for me is how much smoother it runs. I also like how the notes disappear from the fret board when you hit them. It makes me feel more like I'm actually playing the song.

The only real complaint I have are the HO/POs.

I've played guitar hero like 4 times. Guitar Hero has not 'poisened my mind', I was just going by what rouge_F said he had in his algorithm for HOPOs.

The new song is posted in the new thread about this version.

Maybe it's a lil off topic now, but wasn't this version to include a new original song?
