Hey all. =]
After reading & trying v4vendetta's post on adding lyrics Rock Band style(scrolling lyrics). It has come to me that there had to be an easier(slightly faster) way of doing so.. i for one know how long it takes to make lyrics for FoF(the old way w/ script.txt(gh1,gh2, RB<didn't post them>). Well thanks to Myfingershurt & his implementation of the new Rock Band style of lyrics(scrolling lyrics). In my endeavors of trying multiple ways/programs of not using v4vendettas way, i have came across "KrMaker" which is a program to make lyrics for the Karaoke Revolution game made by the none other Harmonix. :;):.... lets get down to business!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Needed:
1. 1st and foremost lyrics.. where eles to find them? http://www.google.com/
2. Midi Editor (likeAnvil Studio)
3. Krmaker backup link
4. Anything to change a song.ogg to a .wav or .mp3 file(winamp will do it)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you already Fretted the song you want to make scrolling lyrics for, please see THIS POST
Before you start!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Using GH3's Muse "Knights of Cydonia" as the example song for this tut.
Step 1: Open up Anvil Studio & make a > File > New Song > Click Track 1 and change the name to VOCALS
Save it to somewhere(like the KR Maker Directory, make a name like "Blank Vocals Midi Track.mid" or w/e ) then close Anvil Studio.
Step 2: Open up KR Maker(KRMaker.bat its java based software) and load the new midi file with it.
tick the following after you open up the midi file, then press Select.
Lyrics [o] 2 Vocals
Tune [o] 2 Vocals
KR Events [o] None
Step 3: Now that you loaded the blank midi successfully, its time to load the Vocals/Master Audio Track in KR Maker.
Browse & Open the audio(wav/mp3) file your going to use to make/line up the lyrics with.
NOW THE FUN PART! =P =]
Step 4: After you opened up the Master Track(audio), its time to start mapping/syncing the lyrics. Open up the lyric's you got. then hit play.
you can slow the playback down to get a more precise positioning of where to put the 1st word.
When you find the 1st word of the lyrics, Right-click where you think it is(can be adjusted to satisfy) on the lines above
the wave form, it will give you a tone(Karaoke Revolution purposes), you don't have to get the tone perfect cause its not needed for FoF
Now enter the word by left clicking the spot, like in the picture.
You can stretch the tone to as long as the word is sung(no use for it, but its an option)
That about does it, just keep doing that over & over with the lyrics & positions of them until you are done with the song.
After you have completed mapping/syncing the lyrics to the song, it time to save it.
> File > Save KR Midi Only > (whatever name you wanna pick).mid
Step 5: Open Anvil Studio, then open the notes.mid(the song you made lyrics for).
Then......
File > Merge Song.... >(the new midi file you made with KR Maker)
There should be 2 new tracks imported into the notes.mid(VOCALS & EVENTS). Delete the EVENTS track(Karaoke Revolution events track, no use in FoF or RB).
Rename the "VOCALS" track to "PART VOCALS" by clicking the Track Name..
If you need conformation that your lyrics are in the midi file..Click The PART VOCALS track then...
> View > Composer > in the composer part change the drop down menu to show lyrics(press play & watch it show your lyrics).
If you did it all correctly, the lyrics should be there, save & close Anvil Studio now.
Test the new notes.mid in FoF
hope its not to confusing =], doing them in Anvil Studio like the way v4vendetta showed confused the hell outta me. xD.
::edit:: im gonna be updating this post when i get the chance to sit down & fix whats needed to be explained.
I got the lyrics to show. But it doesn't match up with the song?
It starts at the very end of the lyrics for some reason.
It even appears in order in Anvil Studio
EDIT: Got the notes to appear in order. But it doesn't match up with the song.
