Since I use FL Studio to make some of my custom songs for FOF, I can isolate the guitar, rhythm, and bass tracks. Now can I have multiple oggs of the full song, just with the selected part stripped out?

Like...let's say I have a song that has lead, rhythm, and bass notes. I take the guitar track from the song and save it as guitar.ogg, then save the rest of the song (sans guitar) as song.ogg. Can I also make a bass.ogg from the bass track and another song.ogg that has everything but the bass (and same goes for rhythm)?

Basically I want to know if I can have three songs.oggs in one song folder, and if the game will only play the one that *doesn't* have the instrument I select.

I hope I'm making sense...

Drums: drums.ogg
Bass: rhythm.ogg
Everything else: song.ogg

okay but what I mean is this:

I play bass, the song.ogg that plays then only has drums and guitar. Later I pick guitar, then the song.ogg that plays only has drums and bass. And if I had drums, the song.ogg would play without drums.

So in the end there would be more than one song.ogg, but I don't know if the game supports that. Or...if I pick guitar does it automatically play both song.ogg and bass.ogg (and vice versa)?

The way it works is this.. If you have a song that has notes for Both Guitar and Bass. and you have a .song ogg a guitar.ogg and a rhythm.ogg When you pick GUITAR it will play both song.ogg and guitar.ogg, if you pick bass it will play both song.ogg and rhythm.ogg. Basically what ever guitar you choose to play it will play that guitars .ogg file AND the song.ogg ( if its present, coz you dont actually need a song.ogg to play the game) And alltho ive never used it i would presume the Drums.ogg would work the same. if you pick drums id expect it to play drums.ogg and Song.ogg.

Oh and when you pick bass it Does Not play Guitar.ogg ( so in reality it can only play 2.ogg files at once) UNLESS... You are playing it on 2player then it will play the song.ogg for both players, guitar.ogg for one player and rhythm.ogg for the other player..

Hope that explained it for you :)

Not really. What he's saying is that he needs multiple song.ogg files, and I'm a bit interested in this, too. Your explanation still only talks about using a single song.ogg file for every choice of instrument.

Let's say I'm playing guitar.ogg and I've made song.ogg with the guitar muted (for playing mistakes). When you play rhythm.ogg for the bass, it'll still play the same song.ogg with the muted guitar, but what he wants is another song.ogg with the bass muted instead of the guitar and the ability for it to pick between the two. Is this even possible?

I allways thought that the game played all files excpet for the one that you're playing, so if you chose to play guitar and there's song, guitar and rhythm.ogg the game would play rhythm and song.ogg at all times and guitar.ogg only when you hit notes.

FoFiX plays all of the ogg files, and only reduces the volume of the ogg of the instrument you are playing (if you miss). other FoF mods im not too sure about. drums.ogg wont play in any old mods. you can have up to 5 different ogg files in one folder:
guitar.ogg - guitar track
rhythm.ogg - bass/rhythm guitar track
drums.ogg - drum track
song.ogg - vocals, keyboard, and other instruments
preview.ogg - preview for the song (plays on song selection menu only)

you dont need to make multiple versions of the song.ogg. if a song didnt play the rhythm track when you are playing the guitar part, then how come you can hear the wrong bass track in the GH2 songs (while playing the guitar part) found here
im surprised that some of the active members that answered this didn't know that.
