If you don't want to feel like a 'cheater' then don't enable it. Then you won't be 'cheating'. The mod was designed for people who can't play 3 or more chords at once. Lots of keyboards suffer that. Sorry for trying to make life better for people.

The current penalizes you for using it anyway (points). The development version also penalizes you more (accuracy), but it only will label it on the end screen if you actually use a converted chord. That way if you play a song without 3 chords (or dont hit them) you wont get that on the end screen.

Just a little feature suggestion which should be quite easy...
How about having a toggle in the song.ini to automatically double up the guitar.ogg? That way, if the guitar.ogg and the song.ogg are the same, you'll only need half the disk space.

A quick way to make it work could be to change the line(s) where it loads song.ogg to check the toggle first, and then load guitar.ogg instead if the toggle is on.

Brilliant mod, though - FoF wouldn't really be FoF without it.

hmm, multiplayer sounds awesome but will we have to hook up 2 keyboards to play it or maybe we can have a lan option? lan sounds awesome if its true, but multiplayer will be great anyways. if we do need to hook up 2 keyboards, is there wsome way to do it cuz i have alot of usb slots but when i hook up 2, either only one works or none works.

There's already something in the development version for if the guitar.ogg is not there, then it messes with the volume instead of just playing silence. I'm not sure it quite duplicates the dual track thing (even if they are the same). The alternate is to load the track twice. The main problem with that is it really uses up lots of memory to load the second one.

So basicly you've already come up with a better way to solve the same problem. Good to know.
Just one little point - is it possible to turn off this feature on a track-by-track basis? For example, a track that is just acoustic guitar and should be completely muted by mistakes?

No. So far there's only one thing that is song by song, and that's HOPO (it can be on, off, or per song).
The lowering of volume can be controlled (0-90%) but it's for every song.

2.42?

Riiiiiiiiiight
if you don't put a screen up, people won't waste 2 mins to download it, extract it into mods folder, start the game, mess with the settings, choose a song to play it in. Because internet folk are a lazy breed. Without a screen, we can't be guaranteed it's worth our while, so we won't download it.

2.42 was a beta version i was testing with someone. It does not have the HOPO stuff in it. Just the performance fixes and the scrolling high score list.
