'Bang Bang Mystery Man' is my favourite tune to play on frets so you can imagine how upset I was when I tried just dragging the sound files onto my mp3 player only to find out it was either singing or music, not both in one file, so...

Any idea where I can "legally acquire" this in mp3 format? Tried everywhere :(

Man, i don't know where you can find it.
But you can "mix" the guitar file and the song file with Audacity.
Here's how to do it:
First download Audacity:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows
You won't have problems installing it, i think.
Then download LAME MP3 enconder (same link as above).
With Audacity OPEN the song file and then IMPORT the guitar file, then you'll have two "tracks". Then simple go on "FILE" and then EXPORT AS MP3(or something like that).
And you'll have both tracks in one mp3 file.
Hope it helps, that's how i did with some musics.

(sry, if i didnt explain right, im in a hurry ><')

Thanks a lot, Knightshade! I really love this song, too, and it's great that I can actually listen to it without having to play FoF.

Ooook, so I mixed the 2 tracks together fine, got them all exported into 1 mp3 file, which is ace.

BUT Even setting Audacity output quality to 320kbps when the guitars kick in it sounds like my speakers are blowing even on low volume.

Is there some kind of elusive 'make this export _good_' option I've neglected to check? :(

This is a brilliant track..

This is what I did, someone else may have a better idea.

Goto 'Edit' then 'Select' -> 'All'
I then used 'Effect' -> 'Normalize'
This should remove the over-ranging on the bass,
I also used the 'equalization' -> 'NAB' for a smoother sound.

I can answer this one. easy as pie.

In case you don't already know this: Frets on Fire is the winner gamedev compo at Assembly 2006 which took place at Helsinki in august 2006.

During the same Assembly 2006 event, there were several other competition categories including freestyle music where "bang bang mystery man" Bang Bang, Mystery Man by Mary Jo feat. Cairbre got 3rd place (check the whole Assembly 2006 results by category). You'll notice that "This Week I've Been Mostly Playing Guitar" by Cairbre made 1st place in Instrumental Music Competition

as usual all compos are available on www.scene.org among other places:
here's the link to all assembly 2006 compos, and direct link to Assembly 2006 freestyle music compos

Also available on www.mbnet.fi: Assembly 2006 Compos

Enjoy demoscene and don't forget to support it

I used Video Vegas (yup, it can edit audio too) to merge all the GH2 songs (because I can't find the GH2 versions anywhere, so I made myself)

The quality is the same as in the game.
good to me
if you don't put a screen up, people won't waste 2 mins to download it, extract it into mods folder, start the game, mess with the settings, choose a song to play it in. Because internet folk are a lazy breed. Without a screen, we can't be guaranteed it's worth our while, so we won't download it.
