I would like to see the program filter out difficulties w/less than 5 notes from the display screen - that would keep you from selecting a placeholder level that doesn't exist. It would make the existing library of songs much cleaner and more accurate and it should be a fairly easy fix.

This is already in the development version of RF-mod.

There's a few problems however. Doing it, requires you to completely parse the notes.mid file, which can take a while especially for GH multi part songs.

This makes the song selection screen pause quite a bit.

I've added some caching stuff to make it easier, but there's really no other way around it.

I don't mind if it adds lag - that's to be expected. And the alternative is to see something I think I can play, only to get one... yellow... note. :( I know the easy answer is to practice more and just play amazing like everyone else, but still. :)

Not everyone has access to Fruity Loops/Anvil Studio/EOF anyway... and if you're doing it with the in-game editor, biiiiiiiiiiiig mistake... Think "bye-bye VBPM" big mistake. (that often kills the sync)

How about instead of parsing the notes.mid when you're scrolling through the song selection screen, it only checks for phantom difficulties after you select the song, before the "select difficulty" screen? And if it finds any, it deletes the safety notes and re-saves the MIDI without them. There'd be a small amount of annoyance the first time you select a song and see that the difficulties are fake, but after that it's fine.

Spoiler:

Memes are so funny hahaha I'm splitting with laughter I can't control this laughter at this meme which uses a word incorrectly oh hahaha

:glare:

That was EPIC.

My songs. All made in EOF, beat-synced and note-synced, not very many missed notes.

when i encounter strange frets in a song, i play some notes, hit "End Song"
and write a highscore like wtf_bad_frets
so the next time i see exactly what is going on
Keep trying no matter how annoying! ;]
