Ah hah! When I get a chance, I'll retry putting in SoD and RaRHK to see if putting in a shorter name cures the problem.

And I tried Elo's method and I named songs in the list only by their title (e.g. aceofspades and crossroads) and it works!!
If you use the FoF song -import method, it just names them artisttitle (e.g. motorheadaceofspades and creamcrossroads) and they wont work (at least not for me)
Thanks guys! Awesome work :)

I believe the Fof song import method in 0.22 should work (0.21 failed for long names), it takes the name from the directory where the files are, but truncates it to 18 letters if it's longer.

Oh, ok. I forgot to mention that version 0.22 didn't work for me so I used 0.20.

I think it has been mentioned when jumping to a new version, that you should start from scratch.
(replace all your backup files and start over)

I dont know, I've started over about 5 times now, as I want to 'really' figure out how this works, and not guess at things so I dont corrupt my data every time I add a few songs.

Anyhoo..
2 Questions from me:
1) Does ScoreHero have any way to Search WITHIN a particular thread? I see there is a SEARCH on the website, but you only specify subgroups (like software) and not a particular thread.
2) People have talked about hitting 'limits' when adding songs, and once they hit that limit, everything they added goes to hell.. (or becomes corrupt, or...?)
Anyone know what that song limit is? Is it a 'tier' limit, or a over all limit? I'm looking for details on this.
(This is what I want to search for on Score Hero )

Elogotar said something to me via xfire about a 105 song limit... i think the limit is different for each section (career, quick play, bonus)

as for the other, no idea, i don't actually hang around scorehero that much.

Well, after 99 (I think) in a particular tier (bonus tier too), I think it causes a glitch where it seems to work fine until you open the tier (bonus for me) where you have too many songs and then immediately crashes. I had that problem, but not putting to many songs in solved it. The there's another glitch where after it tells you your data is corrupted, instead of just saving a new file it says something about not being able to save because your storage device is damaged or in use. I think this also has something to do with the number of customs you try to put in (maybe an issue with the amount of RAM you have?) I got up to about 30 extra songs in the bonus tier without having any problems and I have 2 gigs of RAM. It'd be nice to see how many somebody else can fit and hear about their specs so we can make some sort of correlation.

Well, in the BONUS section, once I put in song 34 (I put my 80's songs in there, and then started on GH1 songs)
I got an error when I go into the game that the game cannot find a storage device (after it deletes my 'corrupt' files)
Once I lower the Bonus tier to UNDER 34, everything works fine.

This is all I've been able to do so far, haven't done much with the career files.

Yeah thats what I was just talking about. So you fit 34 extra songs in, or is that 34 including the original 25 bonus songs?

34 Total.
I wiped out the original Bonus songs and just put my 80s plus a few more in there.

I'm reinstalling as we speak, becasue different people are having different results with the number of songs when the save error occurs...

number of songs might have something to do with the computer itself... like, ram or hdd size or something. it might not be code that's causing the game to crash, it might be the computer not being able to handle the game like the game wants? idk, i'm not really good with this kind of thing, but that seems the most logical to me...

Precisely, my guess is that it's a RAM issue. Like I said earlier, I got 2 gigs of RAM and I still only managed to fit 55, including the original 25 in the Bonus Tier.

On the Number Of Songs Issue
-----------------------------------------------
(Here is my orginal Score Hero post)
dgrams2000 wrote:
For what its worth, I've taken a Clean install of GH3, and didnt import any of my FOF songs yet, but tweaked the SONG LIMITS in various areas to see how far, or many songs the game would allow me to add.

This is my final tally:
BONUS SONGS: 32 songs total
General Songs:
Tier 1: 20 total
Tier 2: 20 total
Tier 3: 20 total
Tier 4: 20 total
Tier 5: 16 total
Tier 6: 6 total
Tier 7: 5 total
Tier 8: 4 total

So, total songs are 143 in these two groups.
Now, I guess you could go and just CHANGE what songs are in the Career mode as well and get more possibly, but since the UNLOCK ALL doesnt really unlock all and you still have to play thru career mode, I have no interest in using it. (BUT.. I did try to increase some songs here, it the game crashed)

Hope this helps someone
I think that if I changed the amounts, but kept the total 111 in the QUICKPLAY, it would still work.
(like if I wanted 80 in tier 1, and 0 in tier 2 for example)

If I add ANY more songs than that in any Tier, or in the BONUS SONGS area, or even in Career mode, the game will either give me a SAVE error, or will just flat out crash when I select my QUICKPLAY 'difficulty'.

----------------------------------
UPDATE (on 1/11/08):
Well, after having tons and tons of copies of SLOWRIDE in my playlists (Quickplay and BONUS sections) I decided to start putting in my 80's songs into my BONUS area.
Well, I've put in my 30 GH80's songs, overlaying all BONUS tracks, and ultimately ended up with LESS songs than I had made room for above.
The game is crashing now.
SO.....
Seeing this kind of makes me believe that it has NOTHING to do with the 'number' of songs imported, but possibly either the lengths of file/song names, and/or the sizes of the song files themselves.

Just wanted to throw this out there.

Same deal here. I did the exact same thing here. I started with about 80 song slots in the bonus tier (25 default songs included) filled with Slow Ride, but after adding what I wanted, I ended up with about 55.
