How about a Guitar Hero-themed mod ;) . Or how about at least one where the keys are actually circles with holes in them? It seems a little hard to know exactly when the notes hit the keys to queue them in, since the keys overlay the notes and are bigger than them.

Post editing works within a certain time period, but it does seem to be very small. Essentially, re-post if need be, but always try to edit first (and don't just post for the hell of it as some seem to do)

I would like to see the flames and lightning bolts from guitar hero. the lightning bolts would strike if you nail a really sweet lick, and the flames are just for every note you hit.

also, whammy bar support. It might have to be an analog input source, but it would be sweet to have a dumbed down button one for the time being.

I don't care that much about the moving characters in the background, its just too much work and processing power for people to be **** about all the time. but this stuff is easy. we already have accurate looking notes, even. (noob edition+that mod with the orange 5th fret)

If those things were easy then they would have already been implemented.

For starters, from what I hear most PCs don't recognise the whammy bar at all (mine certianly doesn't) so analogue or not it still wouldn't work with the controller. The other problem is that if pitch changing effects were used to simulate the whammy, then the entire track would "wobble" as only the guitar hero tracks have seperate guitar tracks.

The flames when you hit a note might be doable and i'll talk to Rogue about trying to implement that, but the lightning at best would be a static image so it would look a bit crap. I will however test that out, possibly making it appear when you hit the 4x combo.

Still, good to hear more ideas, it's certainly got me thinking about how those things could be tried and they'll go on my list of things to explore.

Yeah, I'm not finding anything easy for doing distortions in pygame, so i'm not sure if that's doable.

My analog whammy bar does not register either (windows does not see it). Though the tilt sensor does.

in the GH tracks, the things like lightning, and other effects are midi events that are in the *.mid file. Right now FoF does not do anything with those events.

Hey, does anyone know if the wireless GH2 controller uses blue tooth, if so then viola drivers could be created.

I doubt it is blue tooth though :(

The flames when you hit a note would be awesome, sometimes I'm not sure if I have hit a note because the glow last little in really fast notes

damn, I didn't know it didn't recognize the whammy bar. that kindof blows. If it recognizes the tilt though, star power would be sweet. It could work like:
If a person gets a certain length note streak, the star power opportunity activates, and then it recognizes the tilt.
what does star power do, exactly? Just give more points per note? For our purposes it could boost it to like 8x and the yet-to-be-made flames could turn blue or something.

just curious, how close to a copyright infringement can we get? does it get worse the closer we make it look to the original?
