I was thinking that it might be cool toplayback what you just played, see which notes you hit ad didn't hit.
Basicly I was thinking that you'd just record if you hit a fret (true/flase when the fret is at position) or if you didn't, starpower and killswitches would be a bit harder to do since they're not really controlled by the notes as much as the "hitting" is.. Anyways this would be a cool thing to add for tournaments and stuff, so you can have the opponent playing on player2 or something, without having to fix network play.

I wouldn't have any idea on how to do this myself though. But I guess you could just make some markers where you're supposed to miss and a marker where you trigger starpower or hold killswitch and use the imrpoved jurgen. :)

So basically a replay function? Doesn't sound too complicated in itself, but the way ur describing it sounds painful and lag-tastic...lol

I do like the idea though, as well as it being for tournaments. :p

Yeah, but that woudl more or less be the same as making a video. Which, a replay is more or less that anyways...lol If anything it'd be an in-game recording thing so you dont need Fraps or Camtasia or anything outside of FoF.

Although thinking about i, for tournaments, a youtube vid would be easier. BUt an in-game recorder/replayer would be nifty...lol

I support this idea too. I think it would be possible to implement replay feature. The way I see it is this: it would record only the notes and whether you missed it or not; it could be enabled in Options menu; the file would be saved on hard drive; since it's not actual video, the file-size would be very small (100 Kb - 1 MB, I guess); we could upload and share them so the others could download them, put in their FOF folder and watch the replays; it could also be used for youtube: we could just record it with Fraps while replaying, it'd be less laggy. I wonder if MFH could implement that in Alarian mod

Exactly! =)

Just wondering why this hasn't been asked before...

This is a cool idea, but they'd have to post a "cheater" graphic over the replay to prevent people from modifying the playback file to make it look like they got a perfect score. A feature like this would make cheating much easier to accomplish by modding the playback feature.

or make it a file thats convertible to WMV (flv, mpg4, etc...)
also , if you have flash, you could change the vid to gif like so:

Almost impossible to accomplish I think... It would just be easier to use fraps, camtasie glx, yukon or whatever to record a playing replay...

Also about the "Cheater" part, it should say "Name is here" like with jurgen. The name fecthing wouldn't be any real problem as the recording would be going on until the end of the song and would not "close" untill the player has written his/her name..

This feature would become a great tool. Not only that, but it could also display percentages for each section (If the song is split up of course), that way, you would find where you need to research the most on parts instead of fast-forwarding and rewinding through all of it. I also support this because I'm a Mac user, and there isn't any screen recording freeware, so I have to use my phone, which is horrible.

The main point of this would NOT be recording video for youtube, but rather for tournaments, score show off, replaying so you can analyze it and maybe improve your skills, etc. And, lets face it, fraps doesn't record sound on most of internal sound cards, fraps videos have to be compressed arterwards, and stuff like that

it could save as flv or swf. that way you can use a flash host site (like Sharenator) to host it and use the flash embed to show it here.

Yoruhi: http://store.shinywhitebox.com/home/home.html

tyros: I was thinking that this would be an alternative to video.
What I meant with that is that adding support for all different kinds of video output takes a lot of work and that it would be more practical to record real videos with screen capturing software. Not that videos should be used extensively ;)
