Could I just say, if you do end up caching song data, wouldn't it be better to do it in a seperate file from the song.ini? Maybe a cache.ini file?
Couldn't whoever makes the song for FOF just make a note of how long the song is, then put another line of code in the *.ini file with "2min 36secs" that the game can just read off and put next to the song title? Easy as pie surely?
Also had a thought on the previews - because they take a while to load sometimes would it not be better to have a 20second preview file in the song folder that would load quicker....? No idea on Python so wouldn't know but seems obvious unless I'm just a braindead noob

This was my original thought when I made the suggestion. I wouldn't think it would take much more coding to allow the information to show if a songlength tag were added in the ini.

heheh damn right you are! sorry!! it has allready been done, if you make a preview.ogg and put that into the song folder it will play that instead of the main song file
