Auto-Fretter
I've had this idea for a while and i don't know if it's possible but if it is...
Anyway, my idea is to make a program, app, or something like that were you can paste the tabs for a song and it automatically creates the best possible notechart for that song. Then it gives you the option to upload to a file sharing site. That way, we could get almost any song we want very easilly.

Re: Auto-Fretter
Wouldn't that be nice?
Tabs aren't always accurate. And this sounds really far fetched.

It's not like I dislike sleeping, I really do like it to be honest. It's the whole wake up/go to sleep business I don't like.

Re: Auto-Fretter
But mine involves tabs. If you did it using an audio file, wouldn't you need seperate tracks? This way you get get just the guitar track.

Well as pointed out, tabs are not alway accurate, this is mostly syncing though. We're not interested in absolute note heights, but rather relative.
I don't think it'd be very easy to do, it might be doable, but quite hard. Simple chords might be quite easy (Hey look the same note should be fretted to the same colour), but more complex stuff like solos might be hard.
Imagine 12 notes rising, how would you fret this?
grybogrybogr?
grybryborybo?
Some stuff are just easier to do manually, though having the tab visible under the fretboard in a fretting application might be a good idea.

Re: Auto-Fretter
You can do this in FL, you just have to move the notes from the Tabs Midi up to the C8 section.

Re: Auto-Fretter
And constrict them to 5 notes, change the chord placement to typical RB conventions, create lower difficulties, fix the sync, etc. It just wouldn't be feasible for a program to do this well in an automated fashion.

Re: Auto-Fretter
I think there's way too many variables going into how a chart should be to do it automatically.
