Sir, I believe your post just backfired.

Some games modes that make the game harder. How about a mode where the longer your streak gets, the tighter the hitwindow turns? Or maybe not the hitwindow, but the notes became smaller so you can clearly see the difference.

Taken a bit out of context? Be sure to include the entire sentence.
(while including official rhythm game ideas) with FoF exclusive modes and features would be amazing.

What I meant was it would be awesome for FoF to have its own exclusive ideas, but also include good ideas from other rhythm games.

I was just about to suggest something like that - an increasingly harder handicap as you do better and better.

Speaking of modes, we better have our own version (and gameplay) of RockFest of GH5.
Kinda like Fret Fiesta or FoFest or something like that.

In that option, we could have some gameplay:
Burn-The-Neck - 2-4 players 2v2 or 1v1 up on hitting certain or all notes so the opponents highway will glow fire so its hard to see notes.

Fuel Duel - 2-4 players must keep up from making a mistake or their neck will explode depending how overstrums or missed notes damage the board. But dont worry, not only you will get damaged, you can activate the rest of your Ignition power you earned from the song to make a nuclear explosion, damaging the enemy boards! Oh every damage cuts the neck until whats left is the frets.

Molotovs Revenge - This mode makes the game more interesting. Hit a fuel note so you can fill a bottle. When you got a battle filled, you can unleash it so it will damage your opponents fretboard. When you die by being hit by a molotov, you can use the rest of your filled bottles to increase the damage that will damage opponent fret bards.

Bolshack Brutes - (Word Bolshack google for it) You have a fire dragon avatar duel that is almost like faceoff combined with battle mode. But the face off meter is very long and the attacks are so (fiery of course) deadly it could take down an opponent if he did a terrible small mistake.

These modes are almost out of rhythm games!

Some ideas I want to see for game modes:

Elimination:
Any player that fails out of the song/misses a note/misses a score threshold/loses streak/etc. is eliminated from the match.
Many players.
Can be team based, in which if one person fails out of the song/misses a note/misses a score threshold/loses streak/etc., the other people on the same team must try to keep up. Also, failing a song can either be of GH or RB based failing or neither.
Continues until one player or team is left.
Points:
Hit notes/use starpower/hit solos/FC the song/etc. to earn points.
First person to hit X amount of points wins.
Can also be team based, in which one person could win the match for the team, or the whole team must cooperate to win, i.e., points gathered by the team go to a total score.
Lives:
A take on the elimination mode; Any player that fails out of the song/misses a note/misses a score threshold/loses streak/etc. loses a life.
If someone loses a life, they get taken out of the game for a second, a counter ticks down for them, and they respawn a moment later.
If someone loses too many lives, they are eliminated from the match.

Batle:
Rather than being a separate game mode, it should be able to be integrated into one of the other modes as an option. I.e., maybe an option that reads, "Enable Items: Yes/No", and scrap the actual game mode.

I would also like to see team vs. team based gameplay. Guitar+Bass vs. Guitar+Bass or Drum+Bass+Vocals vs. Drum+Bass+Vocals.

First though, we should get 3 or 4 player mode finished before adding too much in the way of teams.
PM me for my Wii or DS Friend Codes.

http://www.fretsonfire.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=38434 My Wii GH:WT Guitar and Drum GlovePIE script. Also supports GH3 guitars!
Since "DragonFail" "sucks" so much, I won't post anything related or about them any longer.

Probably some of them, but I think for us to be best heard we should put together our ideas and submit some Issues to the FoFiX google code page. This way we know the info goes straight to the coders.

We've got different lists going on here though - one for solo handicaps (like the neck cut) and multiplayer exclusive handicaps. Someone needs to make a comprehensive list and submit it to the fofix page, then if anyone has any more ideas they can comment there.

Well too bad FoFix is in a feature freeze.

Still I like my idea of Fretfest.

And that's a showstopper for posting your ideas... why?

Just because we aren't accepting new features anymore for 3.120 (so we can finally actually get it out the door soon!) doesn't mean you have to wait until after that to tell us about them.

We have the capability of marking issues as deferred until a later release. If you ask for new features, we'd have no trouble (and no issues) with doing that, and you won't have to worry about forgetting to mention it to us later.

If you want to be sure devs see your postings, at the very least post in the FoFiX subforum (if you're just discussing the possibility of new stuff) even if you don't post in the issue tracker (if you're actually proposing new stuff). Some devs (like me) read the rest of the forum too; many don't.

The only thing I can think of for multiplayer that hasn't already been listed here is a mode that allows player control of whether your own notes are visible, with a starpower motivation for playing invisible notes.

Essentially, allow a button-push (i would assign it to something that i could use as a floor pedal) to cause the notes coming at you that are not yet on screen to go invisible when you push your pedal. I envisioned you getting a small increment starpower reward for each note hit while invisible. This would allow two players playing an easier level song that they both know well and might very well get matching 100% and painfully close scores otherwise to gamble on their own knowledge of the chart in hopes of bettering their points score, while keeping the gamble entirely voluntary... the other player might very well ignore the feature and beat the player that imagines their knowledge of the chart as better than it is.

Pushing the "pedal" would cause notes not yet on the screen to come onto the fretboard as invisible, then pushing the pedal again would cause notes already on the fret board to show up in time to potentially give you a chance at hitting them. The SP benefits would fluctuate in keeping with the visual, and normal charted or automated star power would be ignored while in this game mode.

I'll be waiting for the first showoff youtube video with an entirely blank fret board.

Agreed, I like the FC mode most myself *wink wink devs* and ryanpanties's idea of invisible notes is also kinda cool. But it wouldn't fit on every song, lets take a song that has a rather long fast strumming, same notes. You could put the notes invisible and easily get starpower meter full.

Invisible notes : You can do that in Gh3 and GHWT as performance mode.

I just got an idea! At the beginning of a song, before it starts, add a 5 second Big Rock Ending. When the song starts, the players wont get any points if they miss one note.

This could already be done on the charting level, couldn't it?

You can do that on EOF, yet you will still receive points if you miss one note.

-Big Battle Ending: Freestyle to earn points to defeat yor enemies.
