Whammy bar.

What would you like to see added or fixed in FOF?

As FoF has not implemented the concept of Star Power, the addition of the whammy bar wouldn't affect scores.

AFAIK, the whammy bar is not just another button, but it gives you ablity to make this "wavy" sound on every long note you want, it`s some kind of realtime distortion effect, I think.

The whammy bar is a pitch modulation control, as far as I know, I'm not a guitarist.

Who cares? If you don't have the right chords, the "guitar" doesn't make music, it makes noise. Adding the whammy bar "just because" would be fairly pointless because neither FoF nor GH are concerned with the actual production of music, not like, say, Daigasso! Band Brothers! (that was an actual rhythm game, you can play whole songs on it while idle; there are videos of people using BB as a portable low quality drumset).

Now, if the whammy bar was used to actually contribute to gameplay, that would be pretty cool, although I would have to somehow get my computer to pick up the whammy bar on my GH controller.

there is a reason the whammy bar hasnt and probably wont ever be used in FoF. If you hadnt allready realised FoF can be quite a memory hog at times, to have some sort of real time effect change the sound "on the fly" takes a hell of a lot. Plus if you look in you FoF folder at the types of files and the way the game is actually made up , it was done in a fairly simple program language ( i think its python they use ). Having a real time effect would just kill the game and slooooow it right down.

Sorry guys , i doubt it will happen. but you never know ???

it wouldnt work. the game just plays 2 tracks at the same time and stops playing one when you mess up. it works in Guitar Hero because it has guitar only tracks but FOF most user made tracks use a copy of the song, to the whole thing would be distorted.

Actually, if you notice in GH1 and GH2, yes the whammy bar actually increases your score the faster you use it and also it boosts star-power faster when you hit the star-power notes. But to me thats besides the point. Its a nice effect that add realism into the game, there's something about letting go of the "pick" to hit the whammy bar and go right back to picking notes. It must be a series of movements in combination of hand gestures that complete the overall effect of playing a guitar make it that much more realistic. Does anyone know of any programs that allow for real-time distortion of sound that perhaps use the mouse, in which then you can map to a button or joystick? Maybe some guitar effects software? It would have to be running in the background, but the same effect would be there.

Ok, as everyone knows, whammy bar would make for a greater playing experience, so I'll try to be fast... we *need* whammy bar.

Yeah, you're right. I guess if a whammy bar was implemented it would only be any fun on GH, GH2 and the rare tracks that people make that have two different tracks.

Whilst it is impractical, you could always implment it, and why not have it by wiggling around the mouse or something?

That would be so hard.

The songs users make without having a guitar track wouldn't have any audible whammy. In GH, only guitar tracks have the modulation change anyways.

i don't see the point of the whammy bar anyway. ok, it works on guitar hero 1 and 2 (and real guitars obviously) but the only way you could use it if it was implemented into fof would be on the gh controller itself. it would be near impossible to make an effective whammy bar using the keyboard
