Feature Idea for Vocals

Postby DoctorM » Mon Nov 01, 2010 4:06 pm

I've been thinking that the person on vocals has the toughest job.
I mean the guitar is plastic with 5 keys, and the game makes you sound like you rock.
For anyone singing, if they aren't a good singer, that's it, the difficulty isn't scaled the same way.

From what I understand (and I'm probably wrong), FoFiX uses a pitch analyzer to determine how far off the vocals are and scores you based on that.

Would it be possible (and would there be interest) to have an alternate vocal setting that used an autotune like algorithm?
That is, the person on vocals has what they're singing pitch-shift to the correct note and the new audio piped through the PC speakers.

Pitch shifting requires a lot of the same algorithms as comparing frequencies to determining the difference. It just takes it one step farther.

I dunno, it was just a thought since most people sing like crap. It could be a fun feature.

*feels awkward posting for the first time in god knows how long*

This isn't actually a half bad idea. It puts us one step above and beyond the other rhythm games, and is a good idea to separate us from them. The devs have always been looking for ideas like this one. :2thumbsup:

Seriously though, if it is as simple as he stated it is (i'm not entirely sure, myself, never messed with sound editing - based programming), this seems like it would fit nicely...and as an added bonus, the next time an attractive individual asks you how they did, you don't have to lie through your teeth if they sucked....you wouldn't know the difference. xD haha.
Life would be so much easier if we just had the damn source code.

When you compare it with the "traditional" GH instruments, it certainly makes sense to auto-tune your singing as long as you are accurate enough to get the points.

Memes are so funny hahaha I'm splitting with laughter I can't control this laughter at this meme which uses a word incorrectly oh hahaha

:glare:

That was EPIC.

My songs. All made in EOF, beat-synced and note-synced, not very many missed notes.
