I've been making my own theme and have changed the crowdcheers.ogg with a small song. The problem I ran into was that the song would play in the background of the song I was actually playing on the controller every time I hit an SP/OD phrase. The crowdcherrs.ogg also plays at the results page which I actually want, but as you can imagine it's extremely distracting to have two songs play at the same time in-game.
So for the sake of custom themes(not so much copy cat themes like Guitar Hero or Rockband) I think there should be a crowdcheers.ogg for gameplay(like when you fill your overdrive/starpower), and a crowdcheers.ogg for the results page(when your being scored). The latter of the two being called something else of course.
I think it would be extremely easy to implement, and the theme creators would benefit a bit more from it IMO.
P.S. I had made another related topic here:https://www.fretsonfire.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=40908, but that didn't get much attention so I'm trying a different approach XD.

Re: Seperate audio for crowd cheers
I believe there is an option in the settings for having the crowdcheers play when you get into the top third of your rock meter which you can change, but granted this doesn't solve the underlying problem.
Also I'd just like to point out that some sounds (like starpowerready, maybe? I forget) may default to crowdcheers if they're not defined. So making those files silent oggs could reduce the frequncy the sound plays somewhat.
I do agree with you that having a separate file for crowdcheers in-game, or at least being able to turn that feature off by theme would be a good idea. I'm just trying to help you solve your problem in the meantime
EDIT: reading your other post, you said you had crowd cheers turned off, so I think it may be these missing sounds defaulting to crowdcheers. Take a look in the sounds folder of the RB2 theme and try grabbing any file beginning with "star" that you don't already have

Re: Seperate audio for crowd cheers
According to this :http://code.google.com/p/fofix/wiki/FoFixUsableAudioFiles I have them all.
staractivate: Check
stardeactivate:Check
starding:Check
starpower:Check
starpowerready:Check
start(lol):Check
Audio FIles I am missing(in the theme's folder anyway):
action.ogg
back(#).ogg
coopfail.ogg
failsong.ogg
jurgen(#).ogg
rescue.ogg
battleused.ogg
bassscw(#).ogg
guitscw(#).ogg
bassdrum.ogg
tom01.ogg
tom02.ogg
tom03.ogg
crash.ogg
P.S. This is built off of KiD's RB2 Theme 1.6.5 (r11).
---- EDIT ----
Something else must be activating it because I lowered the crowd volume to 00/10, turned the crowd cheers to off(disabled), and turned the results cheer loop to off.
For some reason "Crowd Volume" doesn't control my crowdcheers.ogg but "SFX Volume" does(as well as the sfx in the menus).
The "FoFiX Options: Overview.pdf" says:
o Crowd Volume. Choose the volume of the crowd.
o SFX Volume. Choose the volume of menu sounds. 0-10
So does anyone know why my "Crowd Volume" isn't controlling the crowdcheers.ogg volume?
P.S. I'm now using FoFiX 3.120 RC1 and I still have the same problem.

Re: Seperate audio for crowd cheers
is it that you are using K.i.d RB2 theme and are having this issue?
my resolve to this would be copy the needed files from MGL theme into the RB2 theme folder and see what happens and if this solves your problem, if not, please reply back and i will test this out and reply back via PM or in forums

Re: Seperate audio for crowd cheers
I was using my modified version of it. I found a fix for now but it still seems like there is a minor bug since crowd volume and the crowd settings(like only play on sp or sp and green) in the options menu won't control crowdcheers.ogg(I even used the old crowd.ogg name and it still didn't control it).
Anyways like I said I found a good enough fix for my theme so it doesn't bother me anymore, you might want to look into it for the other member though.
P.S. Those "needed" files should be pulled from the main fofix folder when they are absent from the theme's folder anyway right?

Re: Seperate audio for crowd cheers
Hello,
I was wondering about the crowd cheers myself. Where were they? I was so used to playing and modding the Megalite theme and it was always there.
When I used the KIDs RB2 theme, the cheers were absent. There was only clapping when I used Starpower/Overdrive. Checked setting, etc., etc.
I swapped the Megalite theme sounds folder with the RB2 theme sounds folder and added the ogg files one by one from the RB2 theme. Seems to be
a problem with staractivate and a couple of the other star*.ogg files. I had to keep swapping and deleting the ogg files that blocked the cheers from activating.
I finally got it to work somewhat. Maybe this should be fowarded to KIDs RB2 development thread instead of here? Just wanted to say that I like the crowd
cheering me on too.
