'Modern Grunge' theme FoFix [First Update! Version 1.1]

Postby catfish08 » Mon Mar 09, 2009 8:13 am

Image
Finnnnnallllly it's finished. Well Kinda...

Image

Spoiler:This is my first theme, and contribution to FoF. It is a grungy/abstrac styledt theme for FoFix, which is based on the GH3 theme by worldrave. It has taken me a fair amount of time to put together, as roughly 90% of the graphics are completely new, and about another 5% being edited. The only thing that hasn't really changed is the sounds, as , IMO, sound well in-game, plus I honestly don't have the time to put new ones in. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it :smile:

Thanks cmsk8er :thumbup:

Version 1.1 Patch
READ ME - The below link is to the first update/patch/fix (Whatever you want to call it lol.) ONLY download this IF you already have the first version of the theme. (Version 1) it.
If you are downloading the theme for the first time, don't bother about downloading the link.
READ ME! I don't know if it happened in this upload, though there's a strong chance that it did. the below links may have strange files like .ds_store. Delete them or the theme will not work in Windows. (From what I've heard)
MediaFire Modern Grunge PATCH 1.1 (To update version 1) 27.98mb
Main fixes include new menu sounds, disguise png/jpgs for smaller image sizes, A rockband 2 setlist (Finally :thumbup: ), Shiny new fretbuttons.
Although the song results screen needs some work still, that will come in time. If anybody would like to help, feel free :smile:

Spoiler:Thanks especially to worldrave, as I used his GH3 theme as a template to create my one. Also a few of the images have gone into mine from his GH3 theme :thumbup: . Also, Thanks to death_au & Typhus with some coding. Though the song completed screen still needs a lot of work :sad: Any volunteers?

Enjoy Guys, and please leave your feedback! just no 'I hate it' sorta flames. If you do however hate it, please tell me why :wink:

Reason: added mediafire mirror (the link on badongo seems to have expired). Also moved to FoFiX subforum.

AHH you serious? I've tested this with FoFix version 3.1 beta 4, and 3.1 and it works without a hitch. I'm using mac, could that have anything to do with it?

If anybody else has this problem can they please post it...

I can confirm it crashes on windows. The reason is there's a bunch of hidden backup files everywhere (with "._" in front of the name). This doesn't present a problem until it tries to load the stage backgrounds, because it tries to load all the images in the folder, and because windows just sees them as normal files it tries to load them and crashes (whereas mac doesn't see them because they're hidden).
Removing all the "._" files worked for me.

I'm glad the theme's finally out. It's awesome! :2thumbsup:
...The game results screen need some improvement though IMO. It's very hard to read the song name (white on light background) and the stars seem too big. Also, the song info that displays when I load a song (during the initial countdown) was WAY too big on mine. My song name and artist nearly took up the entire screen.

Other than those few things, this theme really does look awesome. I hope this isn't the end though. I'm sure there are many things that could be tweaked and played with to look even better.
Good work :2thumbsup:

---- EDIT ----

Oh yeah, I also added this to the FoFiX theme list. Under Other/Uncategorised, because it didn't quite fit any of the other categories as far as I could tell.

Ahhhh I get you. Thanks for that. and Yup, it's annoying with different OS's and all, and yeah, things need to be tweaked :sad: ... It's just that I got no clue about coding! Haha, I can change basic x and y stuff, but when it comes to changing the sizes of things etc. I'm lost.
Oh does everything look like they do in the screens? I'm just asking incase the positions of things go weird due to do different OS's. Oh and finally...this may be pushing it...but could you maybe upload it without all those stupid backup files? OR someone else? I can't really do it because once they are gone, my computer re-creates them. Thanks :smile:

:blush: I was already doing it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?zizzkjw2hnm

As far as I can tell, the screenshots match what I see perfectly. I made my own screenshots referencing my little nitpicks:
ImageImage
It just needs a little bit of tweaking here and there. All the settings you can use are on the ThemeFileSettings section of the wiki, with nice descriptions of what they're for and how to use them (if you weren't already aware).
I might see about tweaking these myself later and post up my results.

Hi!

Thank you for this theme, it really looks cool!

Although the "issues" Death_au mentioned are, indeed, needed to be corrected.

You may see these instructions, just to see what you could do, from the theme.ini of the RB2 Theme by K.i.D (it's results screen are really cool):

Code: Select all

#score
result_score = .425,.144,0.00085

#stars
result_star = .71,.755,0.075,1.0

#song
result_song = .5,.045,.0047
result_song_text = %s

#icon
result_stats_part = .455,.47,0.3
result_stats_part_text = $icon$

#Notes, Difficulty, And Percent
result_stats_notes = .565,.352,0.002
result_stats_notes_text = %s

result_stats_diff = .565,.384,0.002
result_stats_diff_text = %s

result_stats_accuracy = .565,.416,0.002,#c5c606
result_stats_accuracy_text = %.1f%%

result_stats_streak = .5,.448,0.002,#c5c606
result_stats_streak_text = %d NOTE STREAK

#cheating text
result_cheats_info = .5,.57,.002
result_cheats_numbers = .44,.61,.002
result_cheats_percent = .5,.65,.002
result_cheats_score = .43,.7,.002
result_cheats_color = #FFFFFF

#result screen menu [Continue, Retry, Quit]
result_menu_x = .1
result_menu_y = .565

Hope it helps!

Hasta!

Err...

The code I've posted was only for you to see what you could work on...and not to use it as it is.

I've tried it anyways, and it doesn't look good. :sad:

Look into it dude...I know you can do it!
