Re: FoFiX v3.1xx development thread

I have noticed another issue.

If we try to play in Multiplayer we have to create the second player as well. But, at least at my end, the game totally freezes when we're supposed to create the 2nd Player.

Now, just a suggestion, I think that if we set Jurgen to be the 2nd player (in the Mod, Cheats, AI options) the game should allow us to be able to play in Multiplayer even if the controller 2 (or 3 or 4) is set to "none". That way, when in Multiplayer mode, after selecting Player 1, a player named Jurgen should be set to display automatically as 2nd Player (or 3rd or 4th).

Btw, does the game now allows us to play more then two persons at the same time? Is that why we have controllers 3 and 4?

Thank you for all your hard work and I sure hope you'll be able to fix this issues as soon as possible.

This is LOOKING GREAT!

Hasta!

1) Apologies to all. I didn't realize you all wanted to have player selection and play the game. That has been fixed. (Infinite recursion on player creation)

2) There are 4 controllers because... 2 guitars and two drums. And hey... maybe someday... But no, at the moment only two players are supported.

Does anyone know if it's possible that we can't upload because we're using hashlib instead of sha? I was thinking that it probably generates a different hash or something. If I have to, I'll test if I can upload scores with a python 2.4 version that can use sha.

I tested this out and the problem with uploading scores comes from using hashlib. I compiled FoFiX with python 2.4 and I could upload. So I'm guessing that uploading to divra's charts won't be supported when the transition goes over to python 2.5 or 2.6 until the chart server supports hashlib hashes.

Duh! Achy-poo! Alpha testers don't play games! We complain when they are broken! It's out job! ;)

Anyway, things after 1201 are working. Just a few things I want to report.

Holding down the bass pedal results in a steady bass drum sound during a song. Many drummers hold their foot down to play, and as I mentioned in an issue on google code before player select was even implemented, the game should really only see the bass as a tap anyway, regardless of whether or not one holds down their foot.

When finishing a song and it asks for your high score name, hitting the green pad doesn't let me past the enter name screen, I have to use enter on the keyboard.

Hitting the yellow pad does not allow me to edit characters as Kids graphical screen says it should. Don't know if that's the game controller code, or the graphic being wrong.

In the RB2 theme there is a lobby directory with player images. It would be great to be able to select those in game, as opposed to having to copy/paste them and rename them to our own player names.

All of these are merely suggestions/observations, take note of them, ignore them, fix them or laugh at them. I'm just happy to see this implemented. :)

Guess it's not a problem. I get the same output. I still can only upload high scores with python2.4 and not python2.5. I can't figure out what else is different.

Strange...it worked for me, at least before this new update (when the game was crashing).

Yellow key on guitar, but on the drums it's the bass pedal, since the yellow drum is scroll up.

Finally figured it out...it was urllib. When I use the urllib that comes with python 2.4, I can upload while using python 2.5. Wish I thought of that before compiling python 2.4.
