Image Good news, everyone!
Thanks very much to raph, the ratings system has been tweaked and as a result the thread should load a lot more quickly now.
Huzzah! :2thumbsup:

And thanks to nwru, WikiPost support is coming along nicely (meaning that I won't be the only one in control of this thread, so if I disappear it can still be updated without me). There's a bug with the ratings, and collapsible sections don't work yet, but it's getting there.

I also added some themes I had stuck in a queue for a while, as mentioned below. Some of them are pretty darned good (even if I have only looked at screenshots so far). Check them out:

hehe. And now they're no longer on the list because WikiPost support was finished. I'll get on that an put them back in within the next 24 hours.
Also, collapsible sections are gone (at least until the WikiPost implementation can be sorted out). But considering the post loads a lot quicker than it used to, then that's not such a bad thing
Just be warned that occasionally the WikiPost does take a little bit to load.

---- EDIT ----

The themes I added above are back in the list. Hooray!

If you don't think of FoFiX as a FoF mod and more as it's own program it makes more sense.
  • Download FoFiX from http://code.google.com/p/fofix
  • Exctract / install it somewhere that isn't your old FoF folder
  • download a theme
  • put the theme in your theme folder (i.e. <FoFiX folder>/data/themes/<themename>/<bunch of files>)

Hey Death_Au, Quick question. Could we change the rating stars to a darker gray? Right now with bright gray and white it's harder to see at a glance which stars are what unless you look real close. Just wanted to ask before i forgot (it reminded me after seeing the new ones you added above. Thanks.

The colour of the stars is not set by me. I just (basically) use the [rating] tag to make the rating. For the images to be changed, you'd have to talk to nwru or raph, probably.

I've gotta say, the best theme I've used so far (and I think I've tried all the major ones) is GuitarLegend! It just seems to work, no funny out of place text like many others seem to have, pretty decent menus (not really my style, but alright none the less), nice in game graphics....does anyone have any thoughts on this theme or any other that I should try...Thanks and cheers!

Wasn't here for a few months and I have to see, that a lot of my older themes aren't updated to the "new" lobby and avatar systems.
Could you add a versions tag to the themes?

I've thought of that, but then people will want tags for vocals graphics, too. Not all themes that have lobby graphics have vocals graphics (I don't think).
I could tag both. I'd have to go through and check to see if they've been updated though.
A tag for themes with SVN could come in handy too... Possibly an extra column with all these tags could be added. Would be useful.
EDIT: Any other "tags" people would want?

Also, work has started on FoFiX 4.0.0, which is going to break compatibility with most of these themes. Even if and when work is done to support all these themes again, themes utilizing the planned new features of 4.0+ will be in a league of their own. In the case that this starts becoming an issue, what do people think I should do? Create sections for 3+ and 4+ themes?
I think that would be the way to go... Opinions?

I think if there are really some 4.0.0 alpha/beta/final themes, then we should really create a new thead and seperate it. It will be really confusing to have one thread with 3 (then 4!) different theme compatibilies (pre 3.0, 3.1x, 3.1.2... 4.x) and this thread is great, but will be obsolet, if the new version will be released, but still can be used and is a great source for information.
Btw: thanks again for the great work, you did a lot since my last login!

I was thinking along those lines, but really any theme for 3+ will work on any version 3+, even those built for 3.120 (even though they won't have the latest features, and look a bit odd if you use them on something like 3.00). That's why I thought the tags thing was a good idea. For example if there's a tag for rearranged game results, you can expect the results screen to look odd on < 3.100.
Also, I believe that even though there are plans to break theme compatibility, there are also plans to use the new theme system (when it's done) in such a way to bring compatibility back. Meaning that even though the themes will be outdated, they won't be completely obsolete.
I had a poll once to ask if I should get rid of the pre 3.0 themes from the list, and people voted no. I'm just imagining a similar thing with a thread split.

I dunno. I'd like to here others' opinions on the matter.

Okay guys, I need some ideas. I've been mulling over the "tags" idea (See above), and I think I will sit down one weekend and tag them all. But I need to know what tags I should put.
I'm thinking of having tags that specify different game features that the theme supports that using an older version of FoFiX would break. For example, RB2 setlist wouldn't work on FoFiX < 3.100, and character/instrument select wouldn't work on < 3.120.
I intend on making graphical "tags", and having a key up the top so you can tell what each means. Then just throw all the tags in a new column.
So here's the ideas I have for tags so far. I want to try and keep them as general as possible:

  • Theme type (For graphics placement. GH2, GH3, or RB are the main ones. Perhaps WT as well)
  • Has SVN
  • custom gameresults (for v3.100+)
  • RB2 setlist (for v3.100+)
  • Graphical menus (for v3.100+) [I think? When was this implemented?]
  • vocals graphics (for v3.120)
  • lobby/character select (for v3.120)

can anyone think of any other useful tags?
